In Sunagakure, Chiyo’s grandson, Sasori of the Red Sand, had transformed himself into a human puppet, his appearance permanently frozen at the age of fifteen. Not long after, the Third Kazekage mysteriously vanished. Leaderless, Sunagakure fell into chaos, and their desperate search for the Third Kazekage’s whereabouts triggered a series of incidents. To maintain stability within the village, Chiyo, Ebizo, and others turned their hostility toward Konoha, forcing the Land of Fire into a four-front war.
Facing large-scale, direct confrontations with all four major powers, Konoha Village found itself stretched thin, dealing with an unprecedented shortage of combat strength across an overextended front. It was against this backdrop that the "Platinum Generation" graduated from the Ninja Academy ahead of schedule, were promoted to Chunin, and deployed to the battlefield.
