Orochimaru planned to stop here first, then head south to the Land of Steam, and finally to the Land of Water, which would make for a much smoother route.
The ninja village in the Land of Snow was situated in the north-central part of the country, covered in ice and snow year-round, much like the Land of Iron. However, the snow here was deeper, and every building was blanketed in pristine white. It looked the same all four seasons, whereas the Land of Iron at least had distinct winters and summers.
