They walked until they were exhausted, sighing with every step, too worn out to speak a single word. Tang Youyou looked at the narrow path ahead and frowned slightly. The flattened dry grass along the edges was a clear sign that others had passed this way before. She glanced back at the others and sighed; the children’s legs were too short, making the trek agonizingly slow. She caught a sudden glimpse of Father Tang, who was struggling heavily under the weight of a shoulder pole laden with their belongings. With a grave, earnest tone, she addressed the group: "From now on, we must lighten our load. The children are moving too slowly."
