Inside the mansion in Hong City, Shi Wei had only managed to unlock a meager two courtyards. One they used for confidential matters, while the other... well, they scarcely dared to use it at all, because inside of it lay a deadly thing.
Within the sole room of that courtyard, a massive block of ice lay covered by a quilt, stretched across a wooden bed and radiating a bone-chilling cold. A thin layer of frost coated the floor, growing noticeably thicker the closer one got to the ice, resembling the roadside on a snowy day. Strangely enough, the quilt draped over the block of ice was clearly nothing more than an ordinary blanket, yet not a single tiny ice crystal or thin film of frost touched its surface—it looked entirely like an utterly mundane piece of bedding.
The reason this ice was called deadly was simply that it was so overwhelmingly cold that no one could possibly enter that room. Even Shi Wei's master was unable to do so; they could only manage to step into the courtyard itself. As for the mystery of this ice and why it appeared here... that question was just like the mystery of who had left behind Hong City in the first place—no one knew.
