He looked up at the sky; the Invincible Monster was lunging toward him with its massive maw wide open! Every person merged into its body still had their faces contorted, staring at him with desperate longing, hungering to make him a part of that grotesque collective. His first instinct was to retreat, but then he suddenly noticed a subtle change in the monster’s mouth. It was a faint, almost imperceptible shift—the trajectory seen through his Heavenly Eye was no longer a path of certain death as it had been before, but now held a glimmer of life! This had never happened. Even back at the Seven-fold Pass, the beast’s mouth had promised only death, and every lunge within the magnetic field had been the same. Only this time, there was a chance.
"Could it be?" Fang Chen suddenly realized that after every attack, the Invincible Monster would charge straight out of the magnetic field. Perhaps the way to pass through was simply to hide inside its mouth. Perhaps the Invincible Monster itself was the "other way" to traverse the zone!
"Yes! It must be!" Excitement flared on Fang Chen's face. He had found a way! But as he stared at the giant maw that could easily claim his life, he hesitated. Many of his fellow disciples were already hanging from the monster’s body; entering it might truly be the "other way," but it could just as easily cost him his soul. To become one of those things, howling in agony day after day, hideously transformed—it was a nightmare.
