Tearful Kitty actually had a staggering 200 HP, which was enough to rival most Warriors!
Who knew whether she had dumped all her stat points into Constitution?
Gain some, lose some—her attack power was bound to be abysmal.
No wonder fighting a single wildebeest along with her contracted beast had been such an ordeal.
But now Tearful Kitty had latched onto him, and shaking her off was out of the question.
"I don't care. Unless you carry me while I level up, I'm following you wherever you go. You might as well just kill me!"
Her brazen attitude—like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water—drove the usually composed Lin Tian to the verge of a breakdown.
Fighting down the urge to murder her, and after tearing his hair out in internal debate for several minutes, Lin Tian finally compromised.
"Fine! I'm only playing for two hours before I log off! Remember, only two hours."
"Yay!" she cheered excitedly.
Lin Tian shook his head and said, "Where is your contracted beast? Summon it so I can take a look."
He hoped her magical beast would be somewhat competent and not completely useless.
"Okay!" she readily agreed.
As she continuously chanted an incantation, a cloud of black mist billowed forth, carrying an intensely nauseating stench that nearly made him vomit.
When the black mist dispersed, a hideously ugly monster appeared before them.
"You idiot! You actually contracted a creature from Hell?!"
Seeing the monster's true form, the normally unflappable Lin Tian lost his composure like never before!
His reaction was so intense that Tearful Kitty looked momentarily bewildered, asking innocently, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
What's wrong?
There's a huge problem!
Lin Tian deeply regretted it. He shouldn't have grown soft-hearted just now; he should have stubbornly ignored her. If he had, she naturally would have left out of boredom.
Because the monster before them was unmistakably a Little Demon from Hell!
When characters were created in Genesis, there had been a detailed introduction to the game's worldview. Most people skipped it entirely, but Lin Tian had read every word seriously.
It contained extremely thorough descriptions of the two alternate planes: the Abyss and Hell.
Creatures of Hell were terrifying, insidious, cunning, treacherous, vicious, deceitful, hypocritical, and more—endless negative adjectives were used to describe Hell-born beings.
In theory, a Warlock could indeed form contracts with beings from the Abyss or even Hell, but basically no one was stupid enough to do that.
Because the very first thing a released Hell creature would do was try to murder its summoner.
Once the master died, the contract became void, and it would be free.
Hell creatures possessed a natural suppression over the beings of the prime material plane; once escaped, they would wreak havoc on a massive scale.
Crucially, if it managed to establish a foothold in the prime material plane, other powerful entities in Hell would use it as a living coordinate to forcibly tear open a portal and launch a massive invasion of the mortal world, triggering a catastrophe!
Tearful Kitty was truly naive to the extreme. With her strength and intellect, could she possibly suppress a cunning Little Demon?
If the Little Demon killed her, Lin Tian wouldn't be able to escape either...
Fortunately, this Little Demon was only Level 1...
Presumably, she could only summon a Level 1 Hell creature.
If the Little Demon reached Level 10 and advanced to the next tier, even if Lin Tian reached Level 10 as well, he wouldn't stand a chance against it.
The dark spells autonomously mastered by the Little Demon could effortlessly reduce anyone without dark magic resistance into a puddle of pus.
Precisely because the Little Demon was only Level 1 and lacked spells, relying solely on its physical strength, it had easily been trampled into paste by a wildebeest.
The power of a Warlock came at a price: every time they contracted a creature, they had to pay with their own life essence—in player terms, that meant losing experience.
Resummoning one cost 10% of their experience.
Tearful Kitty was only Level 5; aside from her misallocated stat points, it was because the Little Demon had died so many times that she had suffered massive experience loss.
The Little Demon bared its claws and pulled a ferocious face at him.
With a swift kick, he sent it flying hard.
When it crawled back, it was suddenly much better behaved, though the look it gave him remained filled with malice.
Instead of answering Tearful Kitty, Lin Tian asked, "Can you summon other magical beasts? Even abyssal creatures would do."
She shook her head decisively. "No."
As far as he knew, such an abnormal situation should be impossible.
Yet she was standing right here in the flesh, which could only mean one thing: she had chosen the wrong class.
Her talent and aptitude were utterly unsuited for a Warlock.
Take Lin Tian himself, for instance. His affinity for fire elements was only 80%, so he had never even considered learning fire spells; he wouldn't bother learning them even if someone handed him skill books for free.
Low efficiency, a waste of time—not worth it.
"You should have realized by now that you aren't suited for the Warlock class," he concluded.
Tearful Kitty aggrievedly said, "I know! When the system ran its scan, it recommended that I choose Priest. But I figured Warlocks get to start with cute pets right out of the gate—how cool is that? So I picked Warlock."
Lin Tian collapsed mentally!
Treating a Little Demon like a pet to raise—she was probably the only person in the entire Genesis who would do such a thing!
"I regret it now. Is there any way to fix this?"
Looking at the filthy, utterly disgusting Little Demon with unknown drool dripping from its chin, Tearful Kitty felt a wave of nausea and asked pitifully.
"No, you're on your own!" he replied bluntly.
Unless she had heaven-defying luck and managed to acquire a class-change scroll in the future, she would have no choice but to play as a Warlock all the way to the end.
"You're of no real use! But if you insist on grinding levels with me, you'll only get a third of all monster drops. Can you accept that?"
Lin Tian was a pragmatist; after a brief thought, he said indifferently.
"Hmph, what a stingy man! He only knows how to trick and exploit young girls!" she muttered inwardly.
On the surface, however, she still managed a strained smile. "No problem!"
Her Level 1 Little Demon had a mere 80 HP and 20 physical attack. Having to guard it so it wouldn't accidentally die while also trying to use it to fight monsters was simply too far-fetched; its usefulness was negligible.
It wasn't that she hadn't thought about contracting a Level 5 Little Demon.
However, forget Level 5—she couldn't even beat a Level 3 Little Demon!
In fact, yesterday she had already reached Level 5, only to be personally murdered by the Level 3 Little Demon she had summoned...
She lost 50% of her experience and dropped back to Level 4...
Then, the Little Demon bolted and fled...
Fortunately, it was only Level 3 and couldn't stir up any trouble; it didn't even survive five minutes before other magical beasts ate it as a meal.
What followed was a dull and lengthy leveling grind.
A Warlock's skills, though called spells, were actually more accurately described as witchcraft.
Her stats leaned heavily toward styles associated with darkness, blood, and souls.
