Ye Ran rushed and hurried, finally arriving at the hospital just as the clock struck four in the afternoon. Observing a surgery wasn't physically exhausting in the traditional sense, but it required intense focus. Watching a surgeon operate in person was a completely different experience from studying the process through videos after the fact. Ye Ran cherished these opportunities. Throughout a massive, ten-hour-long transplant surgery, the surgical team had rotated twice, yet she stood there meticulously, watching every move and taking notes. When the surgery finally ended, she did not fight the other interns for the chance to handle the post-operative cleaning and suturing. She didn't leave, though, because her legs had gone numb and heavy, feeling like they were filled with lead. She couldn't move.
