The restaurant was the Sichuan Cuisine place in the Jingtai Commercial City near Jincheng Gardens. Zhang Ying was originally from the land of Sichuan and possessed the straightforwardness and fiery spirit typical of people from there, though she had also picked up plenty of worldly savvy during her time in Beijing.
Having arrived in Beijing at nineteen, she had spent five years as a drifting Beijinger. While she could hardly claim to have achieved massive success and renown, she had at least carved out a career of her own.
