Mount Huashan is renowned as the most perilous mountain under heaven.
As one of the Five Great Mountains, Huashan is located south of Huayin County in Western Qin Province, standing at an altitude of 2,200 meters. Overlooking the Yellow River to the north and connecting to the Qinling Mountains to the south, it is described in the Commentary on the Water Classic as being "distant and grand in appearance like a lotus flower," which is how it got the name Huashan; because it borders Shaohua Mountain to the west, it was anciently known as Taihua.
Huashan is filled with famous historic sites. From the foothills to the very peak, temples, ancient relics, and natural wonders can be seen everywhere. Poems, essays, historical accounts, and folklore left by scholars and literati through the ages have been widely passed down and praised.
