Chen Guozhi’s concern for the marketing and promotion of *Swordsman* was certainly well-founded.
First, as the director of the film, even though the box office outcome would not shake his established status in the industry, no one wants to see a movie they poured their heart into meet with a cold reception in the market.
Second, there was his genuine appreciation for Lu Chen. Through more than half a year of working together, Chen had gained a considerable understanding of Lu Chen and had come to truly admire his character, talent, and dedicated, focused work ethic. He certainly did not want to see Lu Chen make a rookie mistake at such a critical juncture.
