Chapter 5
Rumble—
Rumble—
Rumble—
The vault of heaven trembled violently.
Immediately afterward,
auspicious fairy lights filled the skies, and a vast, towering torrent of Heavenly Dao Merit descended from the heavens,
splitting apart in an instant—
Three Paths of extremely faint Heavenly Dao Merit dropped from the nine heavens, plunging directly into the primordial writing scripts of the Three Innate Clans. This caused their ancestral scripts to instantly radiate auspicious light, imbued with divine and wondrous properties.
As for the ancestral writing scripts of all the other clans, they received no such benefit.
The reason was simple:
When borrowing those scripts, Taoist Fuguang had already severed the karma between them. The Heavenly Dao Merit that would have originally been attributed to their ancestral scripts naturally belonged to him instead.
The Three Innate Clans lacked for nothing, nor did they have any use for the kind of benefits brought by Taoist Fuguang's sermon.
Therefore,
when Taoist Fuguang went to borrow their scripts, he did not even bring up the matter of offering immediate compensation!
Given the immense wealth of the Three Innate Clans, whatever compensation he could have offered would likely have been too meager to mention.
The distribution of merit was not yet finished.
Many more streams of Heavenly Dao Merit branched off and descended—
One of the largest shares fell directly upon the paper where Taoist Fuguang had written the ancestral and derivative characters, instantly transforming the paper into two complete volumes: the upper volume containing the ancestral scripts, and the lower volume containing the derivative scripts.
Once combined, the two volumes merged into a complete Supreme Postnatal Merit Spiritual Treasure: the Ten Thousand Characters Scripture.
The second-largest share of Heavenly Dao Merit fell and merged into the writing brush Taoist Fuguang had used to write the characters, similarly forging a Supreme Postnatal Merit Spiritual Treasure: the Autumnal Hair Brush.
Two equally massive streams of Heavenly Dao Merit fell into the ink stick and the inkstone, forging respectively a Superior Postnatal Merit Spiritual Treasure: the Black Jade, and the Ink Sea.
Following that,
scattered streams of Heavenly Dao Merit of varying sizes descended into all the various tools, transforming every single item into an object of merit.
Even the Fusang Divine Tree, which had contributed a portion of its main trunk material, was rewarded with a stream of Heavenly Dao Merit.
Before long—
By the time every single object related to and contributing to Taoist Fuguang's creation of writing had received its share of Heavenly Dao Merit, sixty percent of the merit descended from the Heavenly Dao still remained.
Rumble!
Surging forward, this sixty percent of the Heavenly Dao Merit rushed straight toward Taoist Fuguang!
However,
Taoist Fuguang did not absorb this Heavenly Dao Merit to elevate his cultivation and realm. Instead, he chose to transform the Heavenly Dao Merit into a Wheel of Merit, condensing it around his entire body.
As that auspicious golden light radiated outward—
anyone could tell at a glance that he, Taoist Fuguang, was a beloved child of the Heavenly Dao!
Want to make a move against me?
See if you can withstand the punishment of the Heavenly Dao first!
When everything finally settled,
a faint smile hung upon Taoist Fuguang's face.
Then,
he cupped his hands and bowed toward the direction of the upper heavens—
Although the Heavenly Dao possessed no consciousness, operating merely on the basic program and will that governed the Primordial World, it would not react to such polite behavior on his part.
Still, as the saying goes—
too much courtesy never offends the heavens!
Being an immortal is just like being human; being slightly humble and cautious is always beneficial.
The will of the Heavenly Dao receded.
All anomalies vanished from the vault of heaven.
However,
within the minds of all sentient beings in the Primordial World who possessed spiritual intelligence, a complete method for making the brush, ink, paper, and inkstone appeared, and they simultaneously learned a new script.
Although the vast majority of innate living beings paid little heed to this new script,
they were quite interested in the brush, ink, paper, and inkstone.
For no other reason than—
under the reflection of the might of the Heavenly Dao,
that Taoist Fuguang who had scattered and written the Ten Thousand Characters Scripture beneath the Fusang Divine Tree, with his relaxed, carefree demeanor and the dashing posture of his flying brush, had left a deep impression on everyone!
Furthermore,
discerning individuals sensed an implicit tempering of the state of mind within the act of writing scripts.
Thus,
for the many innate living beings of the current Primordial World who primarily relied on jade slips to preserve information and spiritual light or bloodlines to transmit messages, the act of writing scripts—which offered a slight tempering of the state of mind while also being a novel novelty—sparked their interest.
All at once—
the fashion of writing scripts began to gradually sweep through the Primordial World.
And born in its wake was a rising surge of Literary Dao Qi Fortune—
the majority of which ultimately converged upon Taoist Fuguang, who resided on the Sun Star!
...
Several more Yuanhui passed.
Inside the Golden Crow Palace—
feeling the Literary Dao Qi Fortune that had gathered upon him and, through the accumulation of small amounts, was no longer negligible, Taoist Fuguang wore an expression of "just as expected."
He spoke aloud:
"Just as I anticipated, after creating scripts and producing tools for their dissemination, not only does one gain merit, but one can also receive the blessing of Literary Dao Qi Fortune!"
This was a good thing!
Having merit to protect one's body ensured a continuous stream of blessings and reduced the need to worry about others plotting against one.
Meanwhile, possessing abundant Qi Fortune allowed one's cultivation to proceed smoothly, granted exceptional luck, and could even make one's wishes come true.
Therefore,
merit was extremely important and could serve as one of the means for preserving one's life.
Qi Fortune was equally vital, enabling one's path of the Great Dao to progress more steadily and smoothly.
"The merit for creating scripts is already in hand,"
Taoist Fuguang murmured to himself.
"Next—"
"I will properly enter seclusion on the Sun Star, earnestly study and cultivate the Great Dao of the Sun, and strive to gain the Sun Star's complete recognition at an early date to attain the fruition of a Sun God."
"At the same time, I will thoroughly deduce and refine the calibrations of years, months, days, and hours, dividing detailed time measurements for the Primordial World."
"That will yield yet another massive harvest of Heavenly Dao Merit!"
Beyond that,
Taoist Fuguang was also waiting for another monumental opportunity—
after the Dao Ancestor Hongjun attained sagehood, the opportunity of the three lectures at the Zixiao Palace was not to be missed.
Additionally,
there was a major matter concerning his second obsession in life—
to take a wife and find multiple Dao companions.
The Goddess of the Moon, born upon the Lunar Star—the supreme star among the stars of the Primordial World—was Taoist Fuguang's primary target.
However,
cautious and prudent though he was, this single Golden Crow possessed zero experience in pursuing a romantic partner, not even the experience of pursuing mortal women,
let alone the experience of pursuing true goddesses.
He had no idea how to go about it.
Coupled with the fact that his current strength was low and weak, and he still needed to practice diligently,
for the time being, Fuguang had not even entertained the thought of going to the Lunar Star to make contact with those two lunar goddesses.
