Chapter 9

Instead of the Sanqing, Feng Xuan arrived in a flash on a cloud.
"You are a disciple of the Sanqing Daoists. Might I ask you to invite them out for a meeting?"
Seeing it was only Feng Xuan, Western Wangmu felt somewhat disappointed. Her problem was not something a mere Taiyi Golden Immortal could resolve.
"My masters are currently in seclusion. Right now, I am the only one here at Mount Kunlun. If Western Wangmu Daoist has something to say, you can speak with me."
Feng Xuan replied calmly, neither servile nor overbearing.
Having entered the Zixiao Palace, although he was a disciple of the Sanqing, he could also be considered a peer of the three thousand guests of Zixiao, and thus could address her as a fellow Daoist.
Hearing this, Western Wangmu hesitated for a moment before explaining the purpose of her visit.
It turned out that ever since Ancestor Hongjun appointed Dongwang Gong as the head of male immortals, he had grown increasingly arrogant and lawless. After establishing the Celestial Court, he even wanted to unify the entire Primordial World.
He wanted to govern everything in the heavens, and he wanted to govern everything on the earth.
He wanted to manage all the men, and he wanted to manage all the women.
Consequently, he set his sights on Western Wangmu, the head of female immortals, wishing to take her as his dao companion so that the Celestial Court would hold the authority to rule over both male and female immortals.
Only then could he fulfill his grand ambition!
Yet Western Wangmu had no desire to do any of this!
She merely wanted to cultivate in her little world, tend to flowers and plants, and refine pills. She had no wish to shoulder this messy burden, nor did she care for Dongwang Gong, and she certainly refused to join the Celestial Court.
Dongwang Gong kept coming to pester her right outside the entrance of her Daoist sanctuary. She could neither beat him in a fight nor outargue him, leaving her with no choice but to seek help from her neighbors.
Although West Kunlun was rather far away, it was still within the boundaries of Mount Kunlun, belonging to the same place, and the Sanqing Daoists surely ought to help her.
"I truly only wish to cultivate steadily, live my life in peace, and avoid getting entangled in the disputes of the Primordial World!"
Hearing this, Feng Xuan wore a rather peculiar expression.
Classic protagonist dialogue—could it be that Western Wangmu was the true Child of Destiny, the supreme master of lying low?
Just who was the protagonist here, her or him?
However, facing her current predicament, he had already thought of a solution.
Since his masters had said the central region of Mount Kunlun was safe, couldn't they just have Western Wangmu move over and live right next door?
If she did that, no matter how arrogant Dongwang Gong was, he would never dare to come over.
With this thought, Feng Xuan spoke directly:
"Ahem, Western Wangmu Daoist, I have a solution."
At these words, Western Wangmu looked at Feng Xuan pleadingly, instantly as if she had grabbed onto a straw to save her life.
Her fair face held a pitiful expression, and her bright eyes blinked rapidly—truly a soul-stirring sight.
Yet Feng Xuan was entirely immune to this act.
This woman had looked down on him just moments ago, yet now she put on this face. She was far too quick to change her expression!
"Western Wangmu Daoist, you also know that in this world, there is no such thing as unearned help."
"What do you mean?"
Western Wangmu's expression shifted slightly as a bad premonition arose in her heart.
"Western Wangmu Daoist, you surely don't want Dongwang Gong to keep pestering you, and you certainly don't want to endure days of constant disturbance!"
Feng Xuan said calmly, his youthful and handsome face plastered with a mischievous grin. His voice drifted into Western Wangmu's ears like the whisper of a demon.
"Then what do you want?"
Western Wangmu clenched her teeth tightly, suppressing the urge to slap him dead on the spot as she asked.
"I want you to owe me a massive karmic debt."
"Impossible!"
Western Wangmu cried out, her face a mask of refusal.
In the Primordial World, karmic debts were not something to be incurred lightly, let alone a massive one, causing her to lose her composure somewhat.
"Then never mind, I'm heading back."
Feng Xuan turned and walked away without looking back, showing not the slightest bit of reluctance.
Seeing his retreating figure grow more and more distant, Western Wangmu grew somewhat anxious, finally unable to hold back as she called out:
"Wait! I agree!"
With a whoosh, Feng Xuan instantly appeared right in front of her.
Ignoring Western Wangmu's startled expression, he immediately began laying out his plan.
"Very well, I shall tell you my method now."
"All you need to do is move your Daoist sanctuary here."
Feng Xuan pointed to a picturesque valley near the central region of Mount Kunlun. The primordial spiritual Qi here was abundant, and the scenery was breathtakingly beautiful—top-tier even within the Primordial World.
Since Western Wangmu was already within the territory of Mount Kunlun, letting her move a bit closer should not pose any problem, and his masters would surely understand.
"Can you make the decision?"
Western Wangmu hesitated somewhat. While this method was good, living as a neighbor to the Sanqing would indeed eliminate a great deal of trouble.
Could a mere junior disciple really make such a decision, though?
"Rest assured, leave it entirely to me!"
Feng Xuan patted his chest with absolute confidence, guaranteeing the matter.
"Very well, I want you to come with me to move."
Western Wangmu's lovely eyes were filled with grievance. The happier Feng Xuan looked, the more displeased she felt. Throughout her entire existence, she had always acted with the utmost caution and diligence.
She had never incurred karmic entanglements with anyone.
And yet today, she had practically handed over a massive karmic debt for free.
She wanted nothing more than to cry!
Western Wangmu: T﹏T
Shortly after, the two set off toward her Daoist sanctuary to pack up.
Yuxu Palace.
At that moment, a screen of light floated before the Sanqing, projecting the retreating figures of Feng Xuan and Western Wangmu.
The three had awakened the moment Western Wangmu called out their names, but since their disciple had already arrived, they decided to let him handle the matter.
They simply hadn't expected an unexpected pleasant surprise.
Joy appeared on all three of their faces, as benevolent as parents watching their own child sprout wings.
"I see that Western Wangmu knows the heavenly timing and understands when to advance or retreat. Not bad at all."
Yuanshi offered his appraisal.
"My thoughts exactly."
Tongtian echoed.
"All things follow the timing and affinity of the Dao; let nature take its course."
Laizi said calmly, then closed his eyes once more.
Western Wangmu brought Feng Xuan to her Daoist sanctuary. Unlike most, Western Wangmu had been born within a small world created at the very beginning of the universe's creation.
Her entire fortune was stored within that small world, meaning she only needed to retrieve the small world itself.
Before long, Western Wangmu had finished packing, and the two prepared to return.
Suddenly, a figure appeared on the horizon, accompanied by an oily and arrogant voice.
"Where is Western Wangmu Daoist heading?"
"Have you considered the matter I mentioned earlier?"
The two halted their steps, Western Wangmu's face covered in utter disgust. The person approaching was none other than Dongwang Gong.
"What business is it of yours?"
"And secondly, give up on that pipe dream!"
"How is it not my business? I sincerely invited you to join my Celestial Court so we may jointly rule the Primordial World!"
As he spoke, Dongwang Gong burst into loud laughter.
He wanted not only the authority held by this head of female immortals, but her person as well.
Western Wangmu possessed peerless beauty and an extraordinary temperament, and her innate foundation was close to and complementary to his own, making her thoroughly worthy of being his Empress.
Was this guy an absolute idiot? He had just been standing there giggling to himself.
Feng Xuan thought to himself.
Soon, Dongwang Gong calmed his emotions, noticing that the small world which had originally stood here was now gone, and instantly deduced what had happened.
His gaze grew progressively vicious.
"Western Wangmu, you are coming with me today, whether you like it or not!"
Without hesitation, Dongwang Gong struck instantly, intending to capture Western Wangmu by force.
Over the millennia, he had successfully incited numerous individuals to join his Celestial Court, acquiring countless primordial spiritual treasures. Coupled with the Heavenly Dao Merit rewarded to him upon the establishment of the Celestial Court, his strength had already reached the late-stage Daluo Golden Immortal realm.
Being a full realm higher than Western Wangmu, she was utterly incapable of resisting.
As for Feng Xuan standing off to the side, Dongwang Gong held him in complete contempt—nothing more than some lucky brat.
Once he unified the heavens and earth of the Primordial World, he would surely exact revenge on the Sanqing for the humiliation they caused him, and at that time, this brat wouldn't be able to escape either!
[Ding! Detected that Dongwang Gong is ignoring the host's existence. Please make the following choice.]
[One: Allow Western Wangmu to be captured. Refusing to help a future beautiful neighbor means you truly have no shred of humanity. Reward: A cowardly turtle.]
[Two: Beat back Dongwang Gong. Daring to ignore the host—give him two solid punches right in the face. Reward: The Art of Using the Body as a Vessel.]
