Zhao Gongming was expounding the true scriptures of the Great Dao upon the high platform. Tongtian, Laozi, and Yuanshi were all listening with rapt attention.
Below the platform, the disciples of the Chan, Dao, and Jie teachings each sat upon a Great Dao lotus mat. Auspicious colors descended from the heavens, and golden lotuses welled up from the earth. We shall pass over how the ordinary listeners drifted somewhere between drunkenness and sobriety as they listened, nor shall we dwell on how they wept and laughed by turns, and instead turn our focus to the disciples recently taken by the Three Pure Ones.
It is said that back then, in order to conveniently experience the warmth and coldness of mortal life, the Three Pure Ones had transformed into countless avatars and walked among mankind. These countless avatars of the Three Pure Ones took on various roles: some became beggars, some became wealthy lords, and others still... living lives full of the Dao's flavor.
