Nuwa arrived beneath a towering cliff, at the base of which grew a Chaos Spiritual Root: a gourd vine.
Following the Cataclysm of Heaven-Splitting, the gourd vine had transformed from a Chaos spiritual plant into a lower-realm primordial spiritual plant. Later, as various deities of Honghuang filled the world with the corpses of demons, the primordial source of heaven and earth surged immensely, and the gourd vine reverted to a Chaos Spiritual Root.
The Chaos Spiritual Root gourd vine required a very specific environment to grow. In the original text, it grew upon the Nine Heavens Breathing Soil; long before the splitting of the heavens, it had grown upon the Chaos Nine Heavens Breathing Soil, and what happened after that need not be elaborated in detail.
