Cangjie smoothed animal bones and shaved them into small pieces, then carved words and poems onto the front of the small bone pieces—this was the origin of the oracle bone script later discovered by modern archaeologists. In total, he used two thousand seven hundred characters of the Great Dao, along with three hundred special characters. These special characters were used for communicating with the Heavenly Dao, the Great Dao, and the Saints. These characters were handed over to the shamans to use, as shamans served as the bridge of communication between the Human Race and the Heavenly Dao. The Great Dao and the Heavenly Dao perceived Cangjie creating characters, and realized that living beings could communicate with the Great Dao and the Heavenly Dao through them. Consequently, the Great Dao began showering Cangjie with blessings; boundless golden light of Merit surged toward Cangjie. Since the Great Dao was being so generous with Merit, the Heavenly Dao also paid Cangjie a salary—no sooner had the Great Dao's Merit passed than the Heavenly Dao arrived to distribute its own Merit.
