Montjuïc is a small hill in the southwestern part of downtown Barcelona. Its slopes are gentle, but the eastern side facing the sea drops off in nearly sheer cliffs.
Standing at 173 meters above sea level, the hilltop bears the traces of the former Roman Empire. The crowning point of the summit is Montjuïc Castle, a prime spot for overlooking the harbor and the city, or taking in the sunset.
The hill is also one of Barcelona's tourist attractions, though it is somewhat more niche compared to the cathedral, and consequently attracts fewer visitors.
