Chapter 9

"Thud..."
Right before everyone's eyes, Chu Tianxiong's legs went weak, and he dropped straight to his knees in front of Xinyue.
"My legs! What's wrong with my legs?!" Chu Tianxiong shouted in terror.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. You said you wouldn't kneel, but your body is quite honest," Yunfan said with a smile.
Chu Tianxiong only felt a numb sensation in his legs, like getting an electric shock. No matter how many times he tried to stand up, he found his legs completely devoid of strength.
"What kind of sorcery did you use?" Chu Tianxiong demanded angrily.
Yunfan smiled. "You knelt down of your own free will. What does that have to do with me?"
With that, he paid Chu Tianxiong no more mind and walked toward Elder Chu.
Wherever he passed, the other members of the Chu Family instinctively stepped aside to clear a path.
After all, those who had tried to block him earlier were already lying on the floor. With that cautionary tale right before their eyes, none of them dared to stop Yunfan.
Yunfan turned to Xinyue and said, "Go fetch a basin."
Xinyue was stunned for a moment, then hastily nodded. "Ah? Oh, right... okay."
Seeing his fiancée's dazed expression, Yunfan smiled, thinking she was much more amusing now than she had been when they were children.
Soon, Xinyue came back carrying a basin.
Yunfan had Xinyue hold the basin and wait to the side. Then, with a flick of his right hand, three silver needles appeared between his fingers.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh..."
His right hand moved as fast as lightning, driving the three needles into three specific acupuncture points on the elder's chest.
Once the silver needles were in, the elder's already pale complexion turned even ghastlier, completely draining of any trace of color.
"This is bad! The elder's face looks even worse!"
"This is flagrant murder for money! The elder was so good to Xinyue, and yet she's raised an ungrateful wolf."
"Pull those silver needles out right now, or we won't be polite!"
Seeing this, the rest of the Chu Family members turned red with fury.
To murder the elder right in front of them—the Chu Family members were burning with rage.
Yunfan couldn't be bothered to explain anything to this bunch. Instead, he looked at Xinyue. "Bring the basin over."
Seeing that her grandfather seemed to be in even worse condition, Xinyue felt a wave of panic, but for some reason, her body involuntarily obeyed Yunfan's instructions.
"Blech..."
The moment Xinyue brought the basin in front of the elder, he opened his mouth and vomited a large volume of blackish blood.
"Holy shit! It stinks!"
"Is that blood? Why is it black?"
"It's over, it's over. The elder was already weak, and now he's vomited so much blood—isn't he done for?"
"Call the police later! I'm going to make this bastard rot in prison so he understands what the power of a wealthy family is all about!!!"
The old man continued to vomit blood in huge mouthfuls, the color gradually shifting from black to bright red.
No one would have expected that this thin, frail old man could vomit over half a basin of blood. How could anyone survive that?
At that moment, the Chu Family members present were already starting to wonder how they should fight for control after the elder's death to secure the maximum benefit for themselves.
But right then, a scene unfolded that left everyone stunned.
"Where... where am I?"
Lying on the bed, the elder slowly opened his eyes, his voice extremely faint.
"Grandfather!"
Shocked and overjoyed, Xinyue shoved the basin in her hands at a nearby Chu Family member and ran to the elder's side, ecstatic.
People's joys and sorrows are not shared.
Although everyone put on a show of concern for the elder, many among them wished he would kick the bucket sooner rather than later.
Because Xinyue was young and lacked leverage, once the elder died, they could seize a lot of benefits from the Chu Family.
But now, it had all gone down the drain. They hated Yunfan to the core, yet they were forced to put on expressions of immense joy and excitement.
Compared to the rest of the Chu Family, Chu Tianxiong looked as if his mother had just died.
Chu Tianxiong roared in fury inwardly: "Why would someone even be able to spot such a concealed poison? Damn it! He deserves to die! This little bastard ruined my plans, I'm going to hack him into a thousand pieces!!!"
Chu Tianxiong was beside himself with rage. The poison he had paid a massive price to acquire was something even Chen Chong couldn't detect.
Yet it had been neutralized by this little punk, and the position of family head that was just within his grasp had just flown away.
He was so deeply resentful!
At that moment, Chu Tianxiong kept his head down, not daring to look at anyone for fear that others would notice his uncontrollable hatred.
"Impossible!"
At that very moment, an angry roar rang out in the room.
Following the voice, everyone looked toward Chen Chong.
They saw that Chen Chong's eyes were bloodshot and filled with red veins, his entire face twisted into a ferocious expression.
"Traditional Chinese medicine is something discarded by the times! It is impossible for it to cure the elder!"
Chen Chong said with venom: "I get it. Your silver needles must have been coated with some kind of stimulant. You're sacrificing the elder's health just to forcefully wake him up."
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed to Chen Chong.
He was a rising star in the medical world. If even he couldn't cure the elder, this rustic fellow had even less of a chance.
He must have used some underhanded methods, he definitely did!
Chen Chong shouted angrily: "I demand a urine test! A urine test is mandatory!"
"Slap."
Before Chen Chong's voice had even faded, Yunfan sent him flying with a single slap.
"You..."
Chen Chong glared at Yunfan with rage. If Yunfan hadn't been so formidable, he would have already made a move.
Yunfan said coldly, "You call yourself a doctor? This old man's body has deteriorated to the absolute limit. Stimulants are poison to him—don't you even know this basic common sense?"
Clutching his face, Chen Chong shouted furiously, "This old thing is about to die anyway! Besides a stimulant, nothing could possibly make him wake up. Giving stimulants to a dying person completely cuts off his last chance of survival; he has at most three minutes left to live."
Yunfan sneered, "And what if he doesn't die in three minutes?"
Not die?
That was impossible.
Chen Chong shouted angrily, "I'll bet my life with you! Three minutes from now, if this old thing isn't dead, you can make me do whatever the fuck you want! But if the old thing dies, I want your fucking life!"
"Remember what you just said."
Yunfan couldn't even be bothered to look at Chen Chong. With that, he walked straight back to Elder Chu's side.
His fingers either flicked or twirled the silver needles.
As the silver needles quivered slightly, streams of vital energy poured into Elder Chu's body, continuously helping him repair his weakened internal organs.
Xinyue tugged on Yunfan's sleeve. "Brother Fan, is my grandfather really going to be alright?"
Yunfan chuckled and said, "I've studied traditional Chinese medicine for two and a half years, of course he's going to be alright."
Pfft...
Even Chen Chong was amused by that.
He studied Western medicine, completed a combined bachelor's and master's program, and then went abroad to study for a doctoral degree.
From graduating high school to studying medicine, it took him eleven or twelve years—the path chosen by many medical students.
And yet Yunfan wanted to save lives after studying traditional Chinese medicine for just two and a half years? That was pure daydreaming.
Chen Chong thought to himself: "He must have used forbidden methods, that's right, he definitely did!"
At that moment, Chen Chong practically envisioned Yunfan kneeling on the ground and begging him for forgiveness.
