First off, he definitely needs to have ideals. Consciousness has a reactive effect on material reality; if you don't even have a goal, there's no point in talking about striving for it.
Secondly, he definitely needs execution skills. Plenty of people just have ideas, but lacking execution simply won't work—no matter how good the plan is, it's hard to succeed without taking action.
