Chapter 8

In the ruins of Lujiazui, at the break of dawn, a golden Data Stream dissipated like morning dew. Chen Mo knelt beside the collider wreckage, holding Lin Xiaoman in his arms. He felt the code wings on his back melting away, each "scale" transforming into spiritual qi particles that drifted gently onto Lin Xiaoman's pale cheeks. In the distance, Chen Qingyue was helping Chuntao walk toward them. The spirit talisman in the young woman's hair was still flickering, like an unextinguished light of code.
Lin Xiaoman's eyelashes fluttered. When she opened her eyes, the data stream in her pupils slowly receded, revealing their clear amber color once more. "Did we... win?"
Chen Mo chuckled, his fingertip brushing the faint chip scar on the back of her neck. "We won, but not through code." He looked up at the sky; the blood-moon had been replaced by a normal morning sun, and countless points of light floated near the quantum rift—the scattered consciousness fragments of Su Mubai, transforming into newborn spiritual qi particles.
Chuntao suddenly pointed at the center of the ruins and cried out in surprise. Chen Mo turned his head and saw the code fragments of Chén Tiānhóng condensing before they finally formed a transparent gravestone, across which flowed ever-changing data streams. When the morning sun illuminated the stone, the data stream transformed into lines of Chinese characters:
Tomb of Chén Tiānhóng — To all programmers who wrote the light into the darkness
Chen Qingyue knelt before the tomb, trembling as she stroked the inscription. "So he knew all along... Inside every qubit of Tianyan Group, there was an encrypted message he left for the Chén Clan." She took out a Jade Slip and handed it to the Lujiazui ruins. "Father said your Recursive Sword array can reconstruct the spirit net, freeing cultivation from its reliance on chips."
Chen Mo accepted the Jade Slip, and his retinal interface automatically parsed the complex architectural diagram. It was a decentralized spirit net protocol adapted from the Chaos Code Scripture, where every cultivator was a node, replacing Tianyan Group's centralized control with code consensus. He looked toward the direction of Zhangjiang Park, where the quantum spirit-crop greenhouses were being automatically dismantled, and AI robots were beginning to sow ordinary spirit rice.
Three days later, in the Zhangjiang Technological Cultivation Park laboratory, Lin Xiaoman wore a lab coat as she sprayed spiritual qi nutrient solution onto the Twin Butterflies specimens. The two butterflies suddenly beat their wings, and the code scales on their wings formed the light and shadow of "Hello, World!". Chen Mo hugged her from behind, seeing a new invention on the lab bench: eco-friendly talismans made with spirit butterfly wings.
"Su Qing's virtual persona is still inside the spirit net," Lin Xiaoman pointed to the computer screensaver, where a blue spirit butterfly icon was blinking. "She says this is the 'post-quantum era' and wants to help us write the *Universal Guide to Code Cultivation*."
Chen Mo smiled lightly, his fingertips tracing recursive seals in the air. Outside the window, countless spirit butterflies flew past holding Jade slips in their beaks, inscribed with the new preface he had written: "Code is not a shackle, but a canal that allows spiritual qi to flow freely."
On the night of the full moon, Chen Mo went alone to Sector B-7 of the underground palace. He embedded his mother's consciousness crystal into the stone wall, and vines made of code immediately grew around the crystal, entangling the fragments of the Great Void Heaven-Deriving Formula. When the first ray of moonlight shone inside, the crystal transformed into thousands of points of light, spelling out Su Wan'er's smiling face on the wall.
Chuntao's spirit talisman suddenly vibrated, bringing a message from Chen Qingyue: "The spiritual root testing monument in the Chén Clan ancestral hall has cracked." When Chen Mo arrived, he saw golden code seedlings growing from the cracks, each leaf a binary character. Perched atop the monument was a blue butterfly—none other than the avatar of Su Qing.
"These are the new spiritual roots," Chen Qingyue gently stroked the crack. "Father said in the Jade Slip that true technological cultivation means letting code and spiritual qi coexist rather than devour one another." She turned to look at Chen Mo, her eyes holding both relief and anticipation. "Will you demonstrate this at tomorrow's outer sect grand tournament?"
Chen Mo nodded, producing a special talisman—a "Symbiosis Talisman" woven from a mixture of his and Lin Xiaoman's spiritual qi. When the talisman unfolded, the spiritual qi transformed into a data stream swirling in his palm like a living creature. He gazed out the window, where a flock of spirit butterflies in the skies above Lujiazui was arranging themselves into a new constellation: The Programmer.
On the day of the tournament, the martial arts arena was packed with curious cultivators. Chen Mo stood at the center, his hands forming a composite seal of "Loops + Conditions". As spiritual qi poured in, a defensive matrix composed of code emerged around him, while any talismans attacking him were automatically parsed into executable programs, dissolving into harmless rain of light outside the matrix.
"This is Code Taiji," he explained to the audience. "Every attack is an input parameter, and every defense is an output result. True strength does not lie in eliminating bugs, but in coexisting with them."
When he unleashed the upgraded binary sword technique, the sword light was no longer a single shade of gold, but refracted a seven-colored halo—proof of the perfect fusion of spiritual qi and code. The moment the sword technique struck the bullseye, the target transformed into thousands of spirit butterflies, the wings of each reflecting the shocked and excited faces of the audience.
