The spiral patterns on its metallic surface suddenly aligned with a fragment buried deep within her memory bank—a gear she had picked up three years earlier in the ruins of Panda Star, engraved with the exact same honeycomb symbol found in the Memory Vacuum Zone. Mobao No. 4’s mechanical heart suddenly blared an alarm, and viscous fluid spelled out a distorted star map across its panel: "Memory Vacuum Zone flagship... is crossing folded space!" In the darkness at the edge of the sector, twelve diamond-shaped warships slowly unfolded like silver coffee beans. The bands of light flowing across their hulls were woven from the spiral encoding of memory cocoons. A tearing tremor wracked Leila’s mechanical heart; those once-decrypted fragments of memory cocoons now emitted a high-pitched buzzing in her consciousness, sounding chillingly like a coffee bean about to carbonize in a roaster.
