This morning's math friendly match was modeled after the format of the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC). The IMC consists of eight problems spread across two competition days. This friendly match, however, featured four problems, with Beijing University and Mali University each contributing two. Each problem was worth seven points, with a time limit of four and a half hours, allowing the results to be determined in a single day. In the event of a tie in scores, the person with the shorter completion time would take precedence.
The competition took place in a tiered lecture hall within the Department of Mathematics. Led by Wu Zhinian, Ye Xuan, Guangu, Li Ying, and Chen Yan arrived at the competition room. Aside from Ye Xuan, the other three contestants were all from the Department of Mathematics. Li Ying was a senior, while Guangu and Chen Yan were both juniors.
Shortly after their arrival, Charles also arrived with the contestants from Mali University. To Ye Xuan's surprise, Tiffany happened to be among the contestants.
