Chapter 21

Walking on the way home, the sky grew deeper, the moon hung in the branches, the stars blinked, and a cool breeze brought the fragrance of osmanthus. Lu Mingfei watched the light and shadow of the street lamps cast among the trees. After lunch, he had originally wanted to let Erii go home and rest, but Erii said she wanted to sleep early tonight and spend the afternoon playing to her heart's content. So the two went to the arcade and played for the entire afternoon. Lu Mingfei originally thought Erii would be out of form and that it was a good opportunity to wash away past shames, but to his surprise, he was still slaughtered. Erii's winning game count was always one more than his, as if she were intentionally letting him win. They played all afternoon, and once Erii began to grow drowsy, Lu Mingfei escorted her home.
