The sky was divided into two halves: one half was a dark golden sunset, the other a deep gray night sky. They weren't sharply separated, however; at the boundary between the two colors, there was a gradient where disparate shades bled into one another. In the underbrush, the rustle of grass and the faint chirping of insects had already begun. Lu Mingfei, having dried his hair, walked alone along the path toward the cafeteria. "Freedom Day," the "3E Examination"—the scenes from when he first arrived felt like only yesterday. In the blink of an eye, Erii had already come to Kassel College.
