As he left, he hadn't forgotten to remind Lu Mingfei to strictly follow Norma's arrangements, as she would sort out his itinerary.
According to Norma's instructions, all he needed to do upon landing was head to Chicago Union Station and board the Express CC1000 to Kassel College. Lu Mingfei had followed Norma's "idiot-proof guide" step by step without a hitch, but this damned "idiot-proof guide" stopped cold the moment he reached the railway station. Left with no alternative, Lu Mingfei turned to a helpful passerby for assistance. Whether it was his halting English failing to make things clear or something amiss with Norma's freshman guide, no one had ever heard of the Express CC1000, and even the station staff had no inkling of such a train's existence. The staff did at least acknowledge that Lu Mingfei's ticket was genuine; after all, since it had let him through the ticket gates, claiming it was fake made no sense.
