Harry and Ron were having the time of their lives, thoroughly enjoying the holiday with no classes and no homework. The question of who Flamel was had completely slipped their minds. The entire dormitory was empty, entirely at their disposal. The common room was largely deserted, too, making the most comfortable armchairs by the hearth much easier to claim. They could sit snugly by the warm fire, playing Ron’s favorite wizard’s chess or discussing how to get Malfoy expelled. Though somewhat unrealistic, simply talking about it made them feel a good deal better. And now, they were sitting in the cozy spot by the fireplace that was entirely theirs for the Christmas holidays, snacking on anything that could be picked up with a fork—even though they had already eaten lunch. As for why they weren’t using their hands, it was because their hands were busy playing wizard’s chess, and the chess pieces fiercely resisted being touched by Harry’s greasy fingers.
