After dinner, Hector first returned to the Gryffindor common room with Harry and the others. Along the way, Harry and his friends were plotting something and had even wanted to get Hector involved, but Hector showed them Dumbledore's note. With no other choice, Harry and the others finally abandoned the idea of trying to keep Hector there.
"You could talk to your grandfather again about Snape." Harry clearly hadn't given up; he still wanted to try and win Albus Dumbledore's trust. If he succeeded, they wouldn't have to worry about so much.
"Professor Quirrell, goodness knows what happened to him, but he’s vanished from the school. He’s not in his office, and he didn't even pack his luggage—that's pretty solid proof. Snape must have done something to him."
