Hector sat down on the sofa, waiting quietly, hoping that his mind might somehow feel a spark of familiarity at the sight before him. To his disappointment, however, his mind remained strangely quiet, offering no reaction at all. Perhaps he really had never been to this place before. Hector didn't dwell on it any longer. He sat up straight and began to seriously examine the home of Nicolas Flamel, the legendary alchemist. Mr. Flamel's safehouse was not the luxurious kind, which was evident right from the living room. Bottles and jars of all shapes and sizes were scattered everywhere, and the shelves were lined with numerous delicate alchemical creations puffing out white mist, looking quite interesting. There weren't many windows, but the lighting was still exceptionally good. In front of a window stood a large desk, upon which strangely shaped, unusually large instruments were arranged in an orderly fashion. Most of those instruments were made of glass and looked very old, with a layer of white film already coating their walls like frosted glass. As for the ones that still looked relatively bright, they emitted a pale yellow luster under the refraction of light.
