"You're not dead? How is this possible?" Nicolas Flamel let out a few weak coughs. At over six hundred years old, the old man really couldn't handle such rough treatment.
"What, am I supposed to be dead? Didn't I just pass out from running out of magic..." Hector was extremely baffled by Nicolas Flamel's words. First, he reached up to touch his forehead—thankfully, there was no lightning-shaped scar like Harry's. Then Hector carefully checked his magical reserves. To his surprise, the hollowed-out feeling was completely gone, and the three cards were still glowing brightly, each radiating its own light. The magic flowing through his body felt almost overwhelmingly full, looking nothing like someone who had fainted from magical exhaustion.
There was no reason for him to recover this fast. Hector slapped himself across the face without hesitation; the sharp sting told him this was no dream. He rubbed his aching cheek. With no other explanation, Hector's current magic level was stronger than ever before, and that surging torrent of power in his veins gave him an unreal sense of strength.
