Amidst the howling wind and driving rain, the floodwaters surged more than five feet high at the breach widened by Lin Moyang. Like a ferocious beast, it roared as it lunged to devour the wood-and-tile house belonging to Lin Changming. The murky crest, indiscriminate in its path, slammed relentlessly over the dry latrine on the eastern side of the property. That latrine, constructed of thatch and wooden planks, was notoriously foul-smelling on a normal day. Now, lashed by the mountain torrent, it disintegrated in an instant. Fecal matter mixed with sludge sprayed outward, swept up by the flood toward the courtyard, and a stomach-churning stench immediately filled the air. Lin Changming stood on high ground, watching helplessly as the flood charged toward his home. He wanted to rush forward to stop it, but his feet refused to obey; instead of moving, they began to tremble violently. BOOM!
