Sweat soaked Cheng Xin’s clothes, plastering them to his body. Every movement felt as if it required him to squeeze strength from the very marrow of his bones. His breathing was heavy, rattling like a pair of bellows, and his legs trembled so violently he could barely stand. Even so, Cheng Xin gritted his teeth and completed every exercise Old Zhao had assigned without uttering a word. When he finished the final push-up, he collapsed onto the floor. Old Zhao walked over and looked down at him, his tone carrying a trace of subtle appreciation. "Not bad, kid. You've got guts."
