The State-run Restaurant was serving braised pork with potatoes, stir-fried baby bok choy, vinegared lotus root slices, and braised crucian carp today. Having not eaten fish for a long time, yet unwilling to pass up the braised pork with potatoes, the two of them simply ordered one of each, added a serving of stir-fried baby bok choy, and requested two bowls of rice. Once the food arrived, although they felt a twinge of regret over missing out on the braised pork belly, the savory aroma and appetizing look of the braised pork with potatoes made them forget all about it. They dove in with such gusto that, in no time at all, they had polished off all three dishes. The people around them looked on in astonishment, never expecting that two young women could finish off such a large amount of rice and vegetables. Only then did the two of them feel a bit embarrassed. They set down their chopsticks, wiped their mouths, grabbed their belongings, and beat a hasty retreat from the restaurant. They didn't stop until they were quite a distance away, at which point they caught each other’s eyes and burst into laughter.
