Hou Yong didn't take Gu Panpan back to their room to "make babies." He simply wasn't used to being looked up to by his classmates; the feeling didn't sit right with him, so he’d made that joke on purpose. He was starting to enjoy this new persona, but being held up as a paragon of virtue wasn't what Hou Yong wanted. He needed a little room to be reckless. That evening, Hou Yong took Gu Panpan out to try local Hong Kong snacks, like beef offal noodles and various curries. Gu Panpan insisted that Hou Yong provide the history and lore behind every dish, leaving him to offer only a wry smile. In reality, there weren't that many stories to tell; he’d just picked up these bits of trivia from tour guides back when he traveled to clear his head. Hou Yong had been a bit of a hot-blooded youth, so he’d committed everything he heard to memory. After wandering around, Hou Yong brought Gu Panpan back to the hotel to sleep—just sleep, of course. Perhaps because he had someone by his side, Hou Yong slept exceptionally well that night.
