Xi'an International Airport.
As Chen Ye stepped off the plane, he pulled his coat tighter around himself.
It was raining.
He wondered if that silly girl had remembered to dress warmly enough.
He hailed a taxi. By the time he reached the hotel, it was already past seven in the evening. As he approached the door to Luo Hongli’s room, he heard a clamor of voices from inside.
Was she arguing with someone?
Inside, Luo Hongli was in the middle of a heated standoff with Leng Qingqiu.
Suddenly, Luo Hongli paused. "I think someone's knocking."
Leng Qingqiu froze as well. "I think so too. We've been arguing until we're hungry; it’s probably Shen Man asking us to go out for dinner now that the rain has stopped."
Luo Hongli put on her slippers and peered through the peephole. It was pitch black outside; the hallway lights hadn’t turned on.
"Who is it?"
"Who do you think it is?" Chen Ye replied, keeping his voice muffled.
Luo Hongli, still riding the high of her argument with Leng Qingqiu, was in no mood for games. "I don’t care who you are! Get lost!"
Chen Ye’s eyes widened. She was so irritable—could it be that time of the month? If so, he was in for a rough night.
Leng Qingqiu walked to the door and shouted, frowning, "We’ve called the police! Who are you?"
Hearing this, Chen Ye couldn't keep his act up any longer. He reverted to his natural voice and shouted, "Leng Qingqiu? Why are you in there? Open the door, open the door!"
