Frost seeped into the cowhide curtains of the main military tent, the cold air snaking through the gaps like invisible claws to form a thin layer of rime on the ground. Shen Mingyue stared at the newly delivered list of provisions. The candlelight flickered in her eyes, making the words "losses exceeding fifty percent" seem as if they were written in blood, carrying a chilling, uncanny air. Her fingertips pressed heavily against the coarse parchment, the sharp edge slicing into her palm until crimson beads of blood seeped out, spreading tiny marks across the paper. Suddenly, she let out a cold laugh—a sound that held thirty percent mockery and seventy percent ruthlessness. The echo reverberated through the vacant tent, startling the cold crows perched on the rafters into noisy caws. She then slammed the list against a pillar; the wooden board struck a copper nail with a sharp clatter, causing the guard outside to peek in, only to catch a glimpse of the Princess clutching her sword. With a bone-chilling coldness etched into her features, she looked as though she might shatter everything before her in the next second. The lethal aura in her gaze made the guard shudder.
