The air hung heavy with the stench of blood, rot, and the acrid smoke of burning gunpowder, nauseating to all. Many soldiers choked on the fumes, their eyes welling with tears. Shen Mingyue knelt in a pool of blood, her knees shredded by stone and sharp weapon fragments, though she felt no pain.
