"Guoguo, I've missed you so much."
Jiang Guoguo was stunned for a second, then couldn't help cursing out loud, "Su Nuohan, are you trying to choke me to death?"
Only then did Su Nuohan let go and pull Jiang Guoguo down to sit.
Jiang Guoguo glanced at Su Nuohan's wrist wrapped in gauze, her voice instantly rising a few octaves, "Su Nuohan, have you lost your mind? You actually dared to slice your wrists?"
Su Nuohan sheepishly hid her hand behind her back. "I was just acting on impulse. The moment I finished, I regretted it."
Jiang Guoguo was left speechless. "Why don't you fly up to the sky? Does it still hurt?"
Su Nuohan smiled and patted Jiang Guoguo's shoulder with her uninjured hand. "It doesn't hurt anymore, it doesn't hurt. I knew my Guoguo cares about me the most!"
Jiang Guoguo shrugged her shoulders. "Ugh, so cheesy it gives me goosebumps."
Seeing Jiang Guoguo's expression of utter disgust while her eyes kept darting toward her injured hand, a warm current washed over Su Nuohan's heart.
Jiang Guoguo had always been such a carefree person. Although she never said anything overly mushy, she always knew how to offer comfort whenever Su Nuohan was upset.
"Quick, tell me what you and Gu Junyan did yesterday after you hung up the phone!"
Jiang Guoguo took Su Nuohan's hand, her face full of curiosity.
Su Nuohan couldn't help pressing a hand to her forehead. They hadn't really done anything after hanging up last night, right?
However, she had no intention of telling Jiang Guoguo that she had touched his abdominal muscles. Otherwise, knowing Jiang Guoguo's wildly unconventional train of thought, who knew what kind of scenarios she would end up imagining.
"No way! I even deliberately hung up to give you two plenty of time, and you didn't do anything at all! You're really wasting all my painstaking efforts..." Jiang Guoguo stared at Su Nuohan with a look of extreme disappointment.
"Your Gu Junyan is a fine piece of work no matter how you look at it. You had such an absolute supreme specimen of a man right in front of you and you didn't tackle him? You're far too useless!"
"I wanted to tackle him..."
Su Nuohan glanced down at the gauze on her wrist, but Gu Junyan had been mindful of her recent stitches, preferring to take a cold shower rather than let himself be tackled.
Jiang Guoguo was dumbfounded, hesitating as she spoke, "Could it be that your President Gu is really... gay?"
Rumor had it that Gu Junyan and Second Master Xiao were iron-clad best friends who had worn the same pair of pants growing up. Very few people in elite circles knew that Gu Junyan and Su Nuohan had already registered their marriage. Moreover, because Su Nuohan and Gu Junyan had always been on bad terms, the few who knew about their marriage simply assumed she was just a pawn Gu Junyan used as a smoke screen. Therefore, in everyone else's eyes, Gu Junyan and Second Master Xiao were a pair—which explained why Jiang Guoguo would ask such a question.
"Stop talking nonsense! Of course my husband is straight!" Su Nuohan couldn't help arguing back. Criticizing Second Master Xiao was one thing, but how could she drag her own Gu Junyan into this?
Jiang Guoguo raised an eyebrow. "You've never tried it, so how do you know if he's straight?"
"Of course I've tried it, otherwise I..."
"Oh ho! You've tried it?"
Jiang Guoguo crossed her arms and looked at Su Nuohan with a teasing expression.
Su Nuohan gnashed her teeth. "You wretch, Jiang Guoguo! You actually dared to trap me!"
Jiang Guoguo and Su Nuohan were having a lively time bantering. Both of them were strikingly attractive, and half the men in the bar kept staring right at them, while the other half kept glancing over every now and then.
The two bodyguards sent by Gu Junyan to protect Su Nuohan looked at each other with utter despair. Though they could stop anyone trying to harass Madam and Miss Jiang, they couldn't control where other people looked!
To think that the two of them were among the top-tier martial artists of the Gu Family, yet here they were in a bar, wearing gangster-like scowls as they glared at the pretty boys harboring improper designs on Madam and Miss Jiang!
The two of them recalled Assistant Chen's instructions: "Protect Madam without disturbing her, don't stare at Madam all the time, don't do anything that makes Madam unhappy..."
Good grief, they might as well be sent to Africa to dig for coal! Whoever wanted this cushy-sounding job could have it.
Besides, although they weren't standing very close to Madam, their hearing was far sharper than the average person's, so they had heard every single word Madam and Miss Jiang exchanged loud and clear.
They didn't want to know whether the family head was straight, nor did they want to know if there was something going on between the family head and Second Master Xiao. If the family head ever found out about this, would they even have a place left in the Gu Family?
"By the way, Nuonuo, you still haven't told me why your attitude toward Gu Junyan changed so suddenly. I remember you used to... like Qin Yu, didn't you?"
Su Nuohan told Jiang Guoguo about the "hero saves the damsel" setup that Qin Yu had orchestrated back then.
"I told you long ago that Qin Yu and Su Yue'er were no good, but you wouldn't believe me. Those two scumbags are way too scheming! You were only fourteen back then, and they were already hooking up?!"
Su Nuohan picked up the mango juice on the table and handed it to Jiang Guoguo. This was her very first day being allowed by Gu Junyan to come and go freely; she wasn't about to let those two scumbags ruin her mood.
"Cheers to finally seeing through the true colors of that scumbag for your sake!"
Su Nuohan smiled and picked up the orange juice beside her. "Cheers to a new life!"
Thinking of Jiang Guoguo's fate in her past life, Su Nuohan came to the conclusion that Jiang Guoguo lacked a partner. If she had a partner, then even if something happened to the Jiang family, she would at least have someone to rely on.
"Guoguo, do you have any plans to find a boyfriend lately?"
Jiang Guoguo took a sip of her mango juice. "What, are you planning to introduce someone to me?"
Su Nuohan smiled and nodded. "What do you think of my older brother?"
Cough, cough, cough, cough!
Su Nuohan hurriedly pulled out a tissue and helped Jiang Guoguo wipe her mouth. "Why are you reacting so intensely? I was just asking. Look, my brother is already twenty-six this year and still doesn't have a partner, and you're single too—how about the two of you just make do and get together?"
Jiang Guoguo took the tissue, wiped her mouth while observing Su Nuohan's expression, and only let out a sigh of relief when she saw she was serious.
"Well, I'm doing just fine being single. Once I have a partner, I won't be able to add cute guys on WeChat every day, and I certainly don't want that. Being single feels great for a moment, and staying single feels great all the time!"
Su Nuohan was helpless. What kind of warped logic was that?
Mentioning Su Yunmu reminded Jiang Guoguo of her lost blue fat-man pendant. If nothing went wrong, that pendant was probably in Su Yunmu's hands.
"You say, your brother is getting up there in age, why won't he find a girlfriend and get married?"
Jiang Guoguo gave a light cough, not daring to answer.
After finishing lunch, Su Nuohan dragged Jiang Guoguo off on a shopping spree!
She had taken a look earlier, and the decor at Tianyi Garden was far too monotonous, lacking any trace of a homey atmosphere. She simply had to give the place a thorough makeover.
Jiang Guoguo looked at the two luggage-carrying coolies following behind them and whispered to Su Nuohan, "Where on earth did your family find bodyguards with looks this high?"
