Hearing this, Su Nuohan wrapped her arms around the man's neck once more, a bright smile blooming on her face. "I'm not running away. I'm never running away again. I'm sticking with you for the rest of my life!"
As if afraid he wouldn't believe her, Su Nuohan leaned in and planted a quick kiss on his cheek.
...
Watching the person in his arms as her eyes darted back and forth with that sweet, radiant smile, Gu Junyan froze for a moment. He had only ever secretly seen her flash such sweet smiles at other people; in front of him, she had always been like a prickly little hedgehog. When had she ever smiled at him like this?
Su Nuohan watched as Gu Junyan stood up, walked over to the window, and took out his phone. "Doctor Sun, it's me. Could you please come over again? I think she might have hit her head just now—she's starting to talk nonsense!"
...
Su Nuohan's mouth twitched slightly. Still, recalling everything she had done in her past life, she could understand why he would say that. Oh well, the revolution has not yet succeeded, and the comrade still needs to work hard!
Sunlight streamed through the window, casting its golden rays over the man's tall, straight figure, making him look as dazzling as the stars.
Su Nuohan carefully looked over the man standing before her.
He was the Head of the Gu Family, the young and accomplished head of the Gu family, which stood at the very summit of City A's three major families. With his sharp, three-dimensional facial features, handsome face, and towering stature, he was the dream lover of thousands of girls in City A. In her past life, she must have been truly blind. With such an absolute masterpiece of a man right in front of her, she ignored him and instead allowed herself to be fooled by that crooked, worthless piece of trash Qin Yu.
Seeing that the man was still talking on the phone, Su Nuohan padded over barefoot, gently took the phone from his hand, and hung it up. Then, ignoring his probing gaze, she threw herself straight into his arms.
Gu Junyan looked down and immediately spotted the ambiguous red mark on her neck. With the girl holding him so tightly now, his tone softened a fraction. "I'm sorry about last night. It was my fault. I was just too angry and lost control of myself. It won't happen again."
Hearing this, Su Nuohan immediately lifted her head. "Why are you apologizing? I didn't say you couldn't! Besides, I'm already married to you. Isn't fulfilling our marital duties a normal thing to do?"
Gu Junyan didn't speak. He merely cast a glance down at her newly bandaged wrist, his expression seeming to say: *You expect me to believe that?*
Su Nuohan blinked, meeting the man's deep, fathomless eyes. "What if I told you that after slitting my wrists, I suddenly remembered all the kind things you did for me, and it made me realize I want to settle down and build a real life with you? Would you believe me?"
Gu Junyan still didn't speak. He simply stared intently into her eyes, full of doubt and hesitation. How he wished to believe that everything she said was true, yet he was terrified this was just another new trick she had cooked up to leave him.
Catching sight of her bare, delicate feet resting against the cold floor out of the corner of his eye, Gu Junyan's expression, which had only just begun to thaw, turned cold once more.
Gu Junyan picked her up, carried her back to the bed, and carefully tucked her in before turning away with a dark expression. Seeing that he was about to leave, Su Nuohan asked anxiously, "Are you heading back to the company?"
"To the study."
Watching the bedroom door click shut, Su Nuohan lay back on the bed and sighed. He didn't look like he believed her at all. Ah well, tormenting her husband was fun for a moment, but chasing him back is going to take some real work!
"Miss, may I come in?" Auntie Yun's voice sounded from outside, and Su Nuohan called out for her to enter.
Seeing Auntie Yun walk in carrying a bowl of red date porridge, Su Nuohan was struck by a surreal, dreamlike sense of the passage of time.
In her past life, Auntie Yun had constantly urged her to make a proper go of her marriage with Gu Junyan, telling her he was a rare and good husband. Not only had she refused to listen, but she had ended up resenting Auntie Yun right along with him. Looking back now, she had been a complete idiot.
"Miss, the master specially instructed me to make this while you were unconscious. Red date porridge nourishes the vital energy and blood, and since you lost so much blood, Miss, you really need to build your strength back up."
Since Su Nuohan's hands were still inconvenient, Auntie Yun scooped up the porridge and fed it to her spoonful by spoonful. As the sweet, soft, fragrant red date porridge touched her lips, Su Nuohan squinted in satisfaction. What an absolute hypocrite of a man he was.
As Su Nuohan ate, Auntie Yun let out a sigh. "Miss, I know you hate listening to an old woman like me nag, but I still have to say it. Don't be upset that the master won't let you leave Tianyi Garden—he's only doing it for your own good. Back when you first married into the Gu Family, you smashed everything in the house that could possibly be broken. Not only was the master not angry when he found out, but he was actually worried you might have hurt yourself. Later, when you snuck out and almost got hit by a car on the road, it was because the master was terrified for your safety that he stopped letting you go out. Please don't blame the master."
At the mention of that incident, Su Nuohan's expression turned frosty. That was the time Su Yue'er had told her she could sneak out while the servants were busy cleaning, promising someone would be waiting outside the gates to meet her. But the moment she stepped out of Tianyi Garden, a taxi had charged straight toward her. If Gu Junyan hadn't grabbed her in time and pulled her out of the way, she probably would have lost her life right then and there. Looking at it now, that car accident must have been orchestrated by Su Yue'er and Qin Yu as well.
It seemed Su Yue'er and Qin Yu had been deceiving her all along. Just how stupid had she been in her past life to be hoodwinked by them for so long? But there was no need to rush. Since the heavens had granted her a second chance, she would play along with them slowly!
"Auntie Yun, don't call me Miss anymore. Call me Madam, or Gu Madam works too."
Auntie Yun hurriedly nodded in agreement. She well remembered the day Madam had first arrived at the Gu residence: when a servant simply addressed her as Madam while setting down the dinner table, she had flipped the entire table over on the spot. Not only that, she had demanded that everyone in the house refrain from calling her Madam, and the master had simply spoiled her and let her have her way.
"Ah, Madam! Gu Madam."
Hearing those titles, Su Nuohan happily nodded. Madam, Gu Madam—they sounded wonderful!
"Auntie Yun, I heard Gu Junyan say you've been with the family for a long time. Could you tell me what kind of preferences Gu Junyan has in his daily life? Like what foods he likes, what he dislikes, or what kind of women he's drawn to?"
Though Auntie Yun found it strange that Madam had suddenly taken an interest in the master, she was glad to see her paying attention to him, and so she eagerly shared everything she knew.
An hour later, Su Nuohan looked down at the small notebook in her hands and hugged it happily to her chest. Auntie Yun had given her all of his preferences. With this "cheat sheet," she refused to believe she couldn't coax him back into a good mood!
