Ji Xun held the unconscious Shang Qing like a gust of wind, sprinting desperately toward the ambulance with its emergency lights flashing. His heart hammered against his ribs, threatening to leap from his throat; every step was heavy with profound panic and anxiety. At this moment, he saw nothing but the pale, lifeless girl in his arms, as if the entire world were crumbling into pieces in this instant. Reaching the ambulance, Ji Xun carefully and gently placed Shang Qing onto the stretcher, fearing that even the slightest movement might cause her pain. He then leaped into the vehicle in one bound, reaching out without hesitation to clasp Shang Qing’s slightly cold hand, as if she might vanish forever should he let go. His body began to tremble uncontrollably, and he felt on the verge of collapse from sheer tension. Inside the ambulance, the medic began a swift and methodical preliminary examination. Realizing that Shang Qing was merely unconscious and not in immediate mortal danger, Ji Xun felt his heart settle just a fraction. Yet, the ordeal had been so harrowing, and with her still unconscious, he remained deeply uneasy. He sat nearby, eyes fixed unblinkingly on their every move, praying incessantly that Shang Qing would be alright.
