The nine-layered palace gates were thrown open one by one. The golden brick floors were lined with glazed palace lanterns, and even the dragon-scale patterns on the coiling dragon pillars had been freshly gilded, shimmering with brilliance. In the streets, dragon and lion dances swirled to the beat of drums, while the banks of the Jin River stayed restless throughout the night, covered in lotus-shaped lanterns drifting downstream.
