Chapter 7

So hot. Why is the sun so fierce?
The sun in this world is truly scorching. Her coat had been soaking in water, but no sooner had she taken it out than it was bone dry.
In weather like this, surely no one would come looking for her. With the air this stifling, they would have to be wearing heavy armor—and if they didn't roast to death in it, it'd be a miracle.
Blistering hot in the morning, freezing cold at night. With a climate like this, you're unbeatable. She couldn't keep living like a wild little savage.
Otherwise, she was bound to fall sick soon. Even now, her head felt a little dizzy. Do monsters get heatstroke, too? This was impossible; if she didn't fix this soon, she was going to pass out.
She might as well just go for a swim in the little river.
Yuxuan stretched lazily and sauntered out of the tent.
She looked up and saw that the tree was laden with bright red fruits, looking as tempting as little lanterns.
Yuxuan hopped up and plucked a few on a whim. Surely this was fine—they were red, so they ought to taste like apples.
Arriving at the riverbank, she lowered her head to look at her reflection in the water.
This was only the second time she had seen her own face so clearly.
"My, oh my, I am so cute!"
Without the embellishment of any cosmetics, that pure and lovely face was displayed to perfection. A pair of eyes resembled the morning mist of early winter—grayish and tinged with a hint of mystery, captivating anyone who looked into them so deeply they could never pull themselves away.
Her shoulder-length short gray hair curled slightly, looking quite playful and spirited. It felt like a cloud brushed by a gentle breeze, giving off a relaxed, carefree vibe.
She suddenly understood those villains all too well. What a terrible pity it would be to ruin a face like this.
That soft, pink little face looked as though it could pinch out water. Anyone who saw it would instantly grow fond of her, and even if someone were about to strike her, they would probably pause in their tracks for a dazed moment simply because of this appearance.
As for clothes, she had better keep them on for now! After all, with the sun this bright, they would probably dry in no time.
Without another word, Yuxuan leaped into the river. The stream wasn't very deep, and given her rather short stature, the water came up right around her neck.
The river water was cool and wonderful, feeling just like the well water back home.
Leaning lazily against the riverbank, Yuxuan rinsed the fruits she had prepared beforehand in the water and then chewed on them with great bites.
This red fruit was much better than yesterday's. Combined with the sensation of the rippling waves, she closed her eyes in sheer bliss.
Ah! This kind of life was truly enchanting.
Only, wasn't she accepting all of this a little too quickly? But oh well—as the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Actually, sometimes she quite yearned for a life like this, free of worries and troubles. Perhaps the only fly in the ointment was that staying alone for too long could get a bit dull.
Who knows, maybe this world really was like a game, equipped with a wanderers' Adventurer Guild, weapon workshops, and the like... Since knights had already been spotted around here, there should surely be a church as well.
That could be a bit troublesome. After all, she hadn't had much exposure to games of this type, only roughly knowing that they might feature roles like Holy Sons, Saintesses, and Goddesses, and that everyone worshipped the same entity through religious rituals akin to prayer.
These were usually matters for the higher-ups to worry about; far too much trouble.
There was a high probability she would choose to become an adventurer, fighting monsters by day and finding a tavern at night to chat with other like-minded Adventurer comrades, raising their glasses in a toast.
Even if she became an adventurer with this monster-like body, she would probably only be regarded as a mascot-like presence within the team, becoming the ultimate object of everyone's pampering.
She would only need to act a little cute and throw a few tantrums to easily win everyone's affection.
And if her personality wasn't overly saintly, she would truly be a top-tier masterpiece!
The only flaw was that her chest was a bit small, but she was still in her developmental years, and sooner or later it would fill out.
It was hard to imagine what kind of expression others would wear if they had the fortune to enjoy this body...
Oh my, what on earth was she daydreaming about?
Just look at herself—she still clearly looked like a minor, and besides, why on earth would she, who used to be a man, harbor thoughts like these?
After frogging and playing to her heart's content in the water, she ran around a bit wildly.
The sunlight was doing its job, too; before long, the clothes on her body were completely dry.
Hiding inside the tent to block out the scorching sun, she prepared to study the contents of the book.
Last night, she had accidentally discovered a few things, but because she was too sleepy at the time, she hadn't investigated further.
It contained records on the use of Arcane power, which was undoubtedly the magic of this world.
Recalling the fireballs and light orbs thrown by those people initially, those must have belonged to the realm of Arcane magic.
At that very moment, pitch-black smoke flickered across Yuxuan's right hand. No doubt this was the unique Arcane skill possessed by a monster!
Yet what troubled Yuxuan quite a bit was... her left hand actually contained an Arcane power as well.
Suddenly, a flash of light.
Bling-bling!
A tiny, cute white Small Light Orb slowly materialized in the palm of her hand.
Uh... was this supposed to be some sort of bug-like existence?
Could a monster actually master light magic? Was that really possible?
Could the reason for this be the Amulet stuck in her chest? If that really was the case, once she grew up in the future, wouldn't she be an existence defying the heavens?
You can imagine just how overpowered a monster wielding light magic would be.
Recalling the swordsman she had seen earlier—the one wielding a flaming sword and locked in fierce battle with the Demon King—he probably represented the absolute peak of combat power on the human side. If every human could possess strength that formidable, perhaps they wouldn't fear these monsters anymore.
Then again, the Demon King's own attributes were quite formidable indeed. The biggest question right now, however, was whether she had perfectly inherited all of its power.
After all, in a sense, she seemed to be just the remainder abandoned by the left brain and the right brain—Yuxuan.
Therefore, the most crucial question right now was whether she had completely obtained this inheritance, or if there were still some deficiencies or limitations to it.
Or perhaps, once she used this power, would she mutate into a terrifying monster?
At this thought, Yuxuan couldn't help feeling a wave of irritation. It felt as agonizing and helpless as allocating skill points in a game.
Since she couldn't figure it out, she simply stopped thinking about it and decided to take things one step at a time.
Yuxuan decided to test her Arcane abilities first, concentrating her mind to mobilize the energy within her body.
She felt an unusual surge in her back, and immediately afterward, tentacle-like black objects emerged from behind her.
Yuxuan was startled, but she forced herself to remain calm and directed those tentacles.
She saw those tentacles flex flexibly, acting as if they possessed a life of their own, as they swiftly reached toward the zipper of the tent and effortlessly pulled it open.
Taking advantage of the moment, Yuxuan tossed the Small Light Orb clutched in her right hand, and it landed accurately into the water not far away.
