Suddenly, a massive burst of yellow electricity flashed through the white mist. The moment Ash saw it, he knew Magmortar had used Thunderbolt. *Damn it, wasn't Magmortar hurt by Whirlpool at all?* Ash found himself in a tight spot. Without vision sharp enough to pierce the smoke, recalling Squirtle outright was his only real option, but as things stood, he had no idea what kind of state Squirtle was in.
