As she ran, she fumbled with the iron chains and the yoke around her neck, but they were impossible to remove. By the time she dove behind the wooden planks, the assassins had already surged into the crowd. The yamen runners who had been escorting her stood no chance; they couldn't withstand more than a few strikes from these killers. Yin Ruozhu watched as men fell one after another, some kicked so hard they were sent flying in her direction.
