Emperor Chongzhen of the Great Ming was carefully scrutinizing a small notebook.
It was filled with densely packed names.
Some names had crosses next to them, indicating the individuals were already dead.
Others were circled, signifying they had been captured and were awaiting sentencing.
Whether they lived or died was entirely up to Chongzhen.
A few names, however, had neither crosses nor circles.
They looked starkly out of place.
"Your Majesty, a report of victory! A report of victory!" Wang Chengen’s voice approached from the distance.
