The Eight Banners soldier pouring lamp oil onto the scaling ladder was shot dead on the spot. Though he was dead, the lamp oil began to trickle down the ladder.
"Go to hell!" another Eight Banners soldier yelled, tossing a lit torch onto the flowing oil.
