Slogans posted by various sub-district offices, communities, and work units in Jiangcheng could be seen everywhere.
At the entrance of No. 1 High School were the slogans posted by the school for its students.
"Endure hardships to achieve greatness, breaking out of the cocoon through pain. Burn the boats and smash the cauldrons, to fulfill the golden June dream."
Many parents accompanied their children to the school gate, some even wearing red qipaos to symbolize an instant victory.
Yet in the crowd, quite a few students had no parents to see them off, no mothers wearing qipaos to wave flags and cheer them on.
Walking into the campus of No. 1 High School either alone or in small groups of two or three, they were fighting for a future for themselves, and even more so for their families.
Xu Lai proactively moved closer, took Lin Ruoruo's hand, leaned down to her ear, and said softly, "My girl, we are the ones seeing each other off to the exams."
