Chapter 10

Although Wen Rou was just a minor character in The Untamed, in order to better understand the role, she spent her days at the crew's base after receiving the script to familiarize herself with the surroundings. Lin Yuqing did the same.
Both of them genuinely loved what they were doing now. They did not need to hustle just to make a living, having both the time and the financial support to pursue their dreams.
Lin Yuqing was a Beijing native whose family owned numerous properties in the city. As an only child, her backup plan was simply to go home and collect rent if her acting career in the entertainment industry failed.
Wen Rou also felt quite confident now. Having spent ten years climbing the corporate ladder in her past life and having experienced many ups and downs, she had grown indifferent to worldly distractions; now, she only wanted to wholeheartedly pursue her dream.
The director had no objections to their proactive learning attitude, especially since the nondisclosure agreements had already been signed. Since the newcomers wanted to learn, let them learn. Besides, with two great beauties around, wasn't everyone working even harder?
Furthermore, the two of them knew how to handle people well. Delivery meals, milk tea, and fruit arrived from time to time, and everyone in the crew beamed with smiles whenever they saw them.
Today, after finishing his morning scenes, Xiao Zhan found his small chair and sat down. Seeing Wen Rou standing not far away, watching with keen interest, he walked over.
After all, she was his fan, and Xiao Zhan felt a sense of closeness toward her that he didn't feel with others. "Wen Rou, aren't you getting tired of watching after all these days?"
Seeing her idol speak to her, Wen Rou felt like screaming internally like a marmot, but she wasn't the type to let her emotions show easily. Her face lit up with the joy of meeting her idol, yet she maintained proper composure. "Zhan-ge, I'm a complete newcomer, and I'm curious about everything related to filmmaking right now. There's no harm in watching more."
"True. It seems you really love this industry, and your attitude is earnest and hardworking. I'm curious, do straight-A students all love studying this much?" Although he studied too, Wen Rou was an even more formidable top student than he was, working harder and loving to study even more.
She had graduated from a prestigious university and come to the entertainment industry to act. Don't blame him for having a bit of an academic worship complex—after all, he had been a student too, and back then, he used to envy the top students in his class just as much.
"Well... it's probably out of genuine love, just like you, so I'm putting in every effort to do it well. Just like when you participated in X-Fire back then, Zhan-ge, that hardworking spirit of yours made the Peterpans admire you immensely. Many fans who recently discovered old videos through digital archeology are career-focused fans now. But Zhan-ge, on behalf of the Peterpans, I have a request for you."
Wen Rou felt a little embarrassed because her idol was so easygoing, and right then, he was so approachable.
Xiao Zhan was pleased by a fan's recognition, and the girl's dedication to her profession gave him an even better impression. "Go ahead. If it's too difficult, though, I might not be able to do it."
"Haha, nothing like that. It's just that you need to take better care of your body from now on. You can pour your all into your dreams, but the prerequisite is having a good health. When you injured yourself practicing dance back then, it broke the hearts of all the Peterpans for quite a while," Wen Rou said very earnestly.
*Of course that includes me. Seeing that boy practicing desperately for his dreams, my heart ached so much. I couldn't bear to see your smile forced, nor did you want your pure smile to be tainted with tears. You have no idea how infectious your smile is.*
Deeply touched by this Peterpan's words, Xiao Zhan's heart softened completely. "Thank you. I'll take better care of my health from now on. Thank you all."
"Ugh, what's there to thank? You're just so outstanding that everyone is speaking from the heart. By the way, I'd like to treat my idol to milk tea today, so you better make up your mind quickly." Looking at her idol's sparkling, crystalline eyes, Wen Rou didn't want those pure eyes to fill with tears; he ought to be smiling happily.
"Still treating?" See? How innocent those eyes looked when widened in surprise—how could the Peterpans not strive to protect that?
"You and Lin Yuqing have treated us so many times already. It doesn't cost much for a single person, but the crew has so many people. Since you call me ge and are my fan, I don't want you spending too much money. You have no idea what the crew has been saying..."
Xiao Zhan swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
"Haha, are they saying we're easy marks, or wealthy sugar mummies?" Facing that face and those eyes, Wen Rou was simply happy.
"This isn't funny. You two still need to keep a low profile." *Oh no, the idol is going to get mad.*
Watching those eyes begin to turn stern, Wen Rou immediately straightened her attitude. "Alright, Zhan-ge, stop glaring at me. You're actually pretty scary when you're mad. Don't worry, I'm happy today, so let's everyone be happy together! Besides, what the crew said isn't wrong. Although I'm young and can only be considered a minor wealthy girl, treating everyone one more time is no big deal. Since this is my first time acting, we want to get on good terms with everyone. As for Lin Yuqing's family, they are proper multimillionaires; the monthly rent her family collects is beyond what ordinary people can imagine."
At this point, Wen Rou dropped another hint: 2020 would be an extraordinary year. If her idol wanted to terminate his contract with that Wajijiwa company by then, she could offer help. For now, though, it was too difficult to break away from that cannibalistic company, and her idol didn't have that much money yet.
"My parents are both lawyers and quite famous in the legal community. If you ever need help in the future, you can look for me. Even if my parents can't help, I can introduce other lawyers to you."
"Thank you, Wen Rou. Then I want bubble milk tea, the kind you treated us to the first time." After a simple expression of gratitude, he didn't bring it up again. Xiao Zhan understood that Wen Rou's unspoken words simply meant the time wasn't right yet.
*Thank you, Peterpans, thank you Wen Rou. You've made me realize that my perseverance for all this time has been worth it.*
