Following Prince Qi’s gaze, the abbot spotted a woman of graceful carriage standing behind a curtain.
She had tucked the edges of her veil behind her ears, revealing a delicate face etched with sorrow. As she spoke with the matron beside her, she dabbed at her tears with a handkerchief. Her slender fingers were as white as jade, and the corners of her eyes were tinged with red. She was truly a sight to stir the heart.
