Chapter 9

Not long after, Qin Yuan drove Wen Yue's white Audi RSQ8 to Moxuan Apartment.
That morning, Qin Yuan was awarded a rich man's trial pass, getting to experience Jiangzhou's most exclusive high-end residential complex, a mega-mansion worth over a hundred million, and even successfully driving a million-dollar luxury car.
A lifestyle like this was something Qin Yuan couldn't even have imagined in his dreams before.
And the Moxuan Apartment they had now arrived at was by no means an ordinary apartment either.
Moxuan Apartment was very close to Tianheng Building, just about two kilometers away. Walking might actually be faster than driving—just a short walk and then across a pedestrian overpass, and you were there.
As everyone knew, Tianheng Building was located right in the CBD core area of Jiangzhou, which meant Moxuan Apartment was too.
The two of them went up to the 26th floor of Building A, and the moment Qin Yuan stepped out of the elevator, he was dumbfounded.
Good grief.
An apartment with only one elevator and one household per floor—this was thoroughly a "large flat."
Wen Yue glanced sideways at Qin Yuan casually, a smug smile suddenly playing at the corners of her lips.
Walking into the apartment together, Qin Yuan cast a general look around. A scent of dust hit his nose, and the windows and doors of the entire place were tightly shut, quickly helping him figure out the problem.
"Didn't you say you basically live here at Moxuan Apartment all the time? This doesn't look like somewhere that gets lived in regularly."
"It used to be, but because the day I met you, I had just returned to the country."
Wen Yue glanced at Qin Yuan and, as she walked toward the bedrooms, pointed ahead and said, "I'm going into my room first. That room right next to it is yours; you can put your things in there first."
Qin Yuan gave a soft acknowledgement, not feeling awkward about it in his heart.
Although the two of them had obtained their marriage certificate and were legally recognized husband and wife, emotionally they hadn't reached that stage of a relationship at all.
They didn't even know each other's measurements yet, so how could they possibly share a single room?
……
Meanwhile, on the other side.
In the recording studio of the studio Zhang Jiameng had set up for him, Wang Songyang had just howled like a ghost to test the equipment. Having finished singing his self-assembled track all by himself, a smug expression appeared on his face.
"Mengmeng, how did you think I sang just now?"
"Sounds good."
Zhang Jiameng watched Wang Songyang walk out of the recording studio and offered him a smile in response.
Yet at that moment, sitting on the sofa with her phone in hand, she looked somewhat preoccupied.
Hearing her terse and concise reply, Wang Songyang—who held the status of her male best friend anyway—saw at a glance that something was on her mind.
"You look a bit absent-minded. What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
Wang Songyang stepped forward, sat down on the sofa next to Zhang Jiameng, and straightaway put his arm around her slender waist, asking with a deeply affectionate expression: "Or are you too tired? Do you want to go up to the loft to rest? I can go up and cook something for you, how about that?"
After all, they had tasted the fruit of intimacy that one night; if Zhang Jiameng really went up to the loft with him now, it wouldn't be as simple as just eating something.
Feeling Wang Songyang's restless hand gradually wandering over her body, Zhang Jiameng's expression suddenly became even more unnatural, and she instinctively stood up from the sofa.
"No need to make a fuss, I'm fine. I just feel a bit tired, and now I'm getting ready to head back."
Zhang Jiameng turned to look at Wang Songyang and continued, hesitating.
"Over the next few days, I probably won't come looking for you anymore. Qin Yuan still hasn't come back yet, and my dad is keeping a very close eye on this matter..."
"Besides, next week our family's company is holding a new product launch, and my dad explicitly warned me not to stir up any more trouble. The last time Qin Yuan proposed to me caused quite a bad impact."
With that, Zhang Jiameng picked up her shoulder bag from the sofa and turned toward the doorway.
"Brother Yang, focus on your closed-door training and tournament prep during this time. Since you've just advanced to the semi-finals, you need to make full preparations. I'm leaving first."
Zhang Jiameng walked out of the studio without looking back, leaving behind only the soft sound of the door closing and a faint lingering fragrance in the room.
Wang Songyang stared toward the doorway, standing frozen in place as his expression grew increasingly ugly. His eyes were filled with jealousy, resentment, and a trace of malice.
All these emotions were directed at Qin Yuan.
To be honest, he didn't actually love Zhang Jiameng to that deep of an extent; what he truly coveted was her figure and beauty, and most importantly, the fact that Zhang Jiameng was his cash cow.
One had to know that the Zhang family's Gadiba clothing brand, driven by Zhang Jiameng, was able to become one of the sponsors of Dream-Making Singer, so they certainly had clout.
At this stage, Wang Songyang simply couldn't afford to lose these resources.
Especially since it was all free.
"Qin Yuan... you'd better keep your word and completely cut ties with her, otherwise don't blame me for being ruthless!"
"I'll endure you for a little longer now. Once I enter the finals, it'll be time to show you what I'm made of. If I take the championship..."
At this thought, Wang Songyang's gloomy expression gradually morphed into a sinister smile, madness shining in both of his eyes.
He would not allow any stumbling blocks on his path to fame, nor anyone blocking his future road to wealth.
……
3:00 PM.
The afternoon sun gradually grew less intense. The pleasant, sunny weather was just right for going out.
Inside Moxuan Apartment, Wen Yue emerged from her room. By this time, she had changed out of her professional attire, replacing it with a long black dress paired with a white spaghetti-strap top on her upper body, though a small black shawl worn over it gave her a slightly fresh and youthful look.
She had already put on her socks, looking ready to go out once more.
"You don't need to go to the office this afternoon; you'll officially start work tomorrow. Today is mainly to get you familiar with the procedures."
Wen Yue sat down in the seat opposite Qin Yuan's desk, changed the subject, and asked with a smile, "Can you cook?"
"Of course..."
Qin Yuan blurted it out almost instinctively, but his brain rapidly shifted gears. Realizing that answering this way didn't seem quite right, he quickly hit the brakes and finished by adding:
"No."
Now that he was Wen Yue's assistant, there would certainly be no shortage of work-related tasks. But if she found out he possessed practical living skills too, Qin Yuan knew she would definitely end up working him like an ox or a horse.
The more skills he had, the more disadvantageous it would be for him.
Yet all of Qin Yuan's little schemes were seen right through by Wen Yue, and a meaningful smile traced the corners of her lips without a trace.
"Is that so?"
Wen Yue stood up and walked over to the cabinet by the door, glancing slightly sideways at Qin Yuan.
"Come here."
"What for?"
Although he felt a bit doubtful and had a rather bad premonition, Qin Yuan still stood up and walked over to her side.
"Which style do you like? Pick one yourself."
With that, Wen Yue reached out to pull open one of the drawers, looking down at Qin Yuan as she said indifferently, "We're going out, and I need to give you a thorough makeover."
