Chapter 16

"Compared to a repressed prude like you, I much prefer Mo Yu's open and straightforward attitude." Li Jinhai looked his impeccably dressed friend up and down. He knew all too well what kind of person his friend truly was behind closed doors. Clearly, the games Mo Yu played in private were on the exact same level as his own—it was just that one played openly while the other operated in the shadows. Li Jinhai couldn't help wondering: if these two ever crossed paths, who would outplay whom? At that thought, Li Jinhai gave an involuntary shudder. He couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of chaos would ensue if those two ever hooked up!
Lying back in his sports car and feeling the rush of adrenaline, Mo Yu took a deep, ragged breath. The young man's panting flushed the corners of his eyes a vivid crimson, and a few glistening tear droplets still clung to them. Wild, unrestrained, and bold, the young man was undoubtedly the absolute center of attention on the track. A few blonde, blue-eyed waitresses dressed in bunny outfits walked over to the red sports car, handing the youth water and wiping away his sweat. Mo Yu glanced at them, his brow furrowing slightly when he noticed that one of the women was dressed far more revealingly than the others. He hopped down from the car, pulled open the passenger door, retrieved his jacket from inside, and draped it over the woman's shoulders. The woman seemed startled for a moment. Then, looking down at the seven-figure jacket draped over her, she hurriedly waved her hands in refusal, fearing that if she stained it, she wouldn't be able to afford the compensation."Wear it, you don't need to return it." Mo Yu squinted slightly and lit a cigarette, puffing out smoke.
However, he blew the smoke in the opposite direction away from the group.
This resulted in Young Master Mo finishing the entire cigarette in a rather twisted posture.
Mo Yu completely bypassed the woman who had already raised her hands the moment he lit his cigarette, tossing the cigarette butt away in the opposite direction, ignoring her look of astonishment.
"I don't like it," the young man's clean voice rang out.
The woman, draped in the jacket, glanced at the exquisitely featured young man radiating an air of aristocratic elegance before her.
Biting her lower lip tightly, moisture already welled up in her eyes. It had been many years since anyone had treated her with such gentleness.
Mo Yu naturally noticed this. He waved his hand dismissively at the group, pulled a stack of cash from his wallet, placed it onto the tray held up by the woman leading them, and signaled with his eyes for them to leave.
Inhaling the faint scent of balsam fir lingering on the jacket, the woman turned back to look at the young man who belonged to a social stratum she would never reach.
She would never forget this scent.
Having witnessed the entire scene, Lu Zeyu furrowed his brows, lost in thought.
The Mo Yu he saw with his own eyes differed greatly from the one he had imagined.Lu Zeyu did not stop to think about who had first shaped his preconceived impressions of Mo Yu. Men of their elevated social standing shared a deep-rooted arrogance that made them naturally disdainful of looking down at people from the lower rungs of society. Mo Yu's behavior could be considered an "anomaly" within their circle, yet clearly no one dared to criticize Young Master Mo.
He had initially assumed his friend was just joking when he spoke about it at the bar, but just now, he had truly and clearly seen respect and sincerity in Mo Yu's eyes. The Mo Yu of a moment ago was completely devoid of the cynical, devil-may-care attitude of the usual Young Master Mo.
Not even toward Lu Zeyu had Mo Yu ever directed such a respectful gaze.
At this thought, Lu Zeyu couldn't help letting out a scoff. "It seems that rumor about him swinging both ways is just a lie."
Lu Zeyu couldn't understand why a well-behaved boy like Mo Shen would fabricate lies about Mo Yu. He instinctively glanced at the young man beside him.
Feeling the gaze, Mo Shen stammered out, looking flustered, "Brother Zeyu, I didn't mean to. I was just so scared. I was afraid you'd be taken away by my younger brother."
"He has everything; he lacks nothing, but I'm different."
With that, Mo Shen choked up and began to cry softly.
Seeing the tears on Mo Shen's face, Lu Zeyu cast all other thoughts aside and hurriedly set about comforting him. He simply assumed that over all these years, Mo Shen had suffered too many grievances under Mo Yu and was simply too terrified—which explained why he acted this way.
After all, the Mo Shen in his memory was someone who, despite his frail and slender frame, had illuminated a patch of light for him. Subconsciously, his heart still leaned toward the boy from his memories.
As soon as Mo Yu stepped off the stage, he caught sight of the two figures embracing. He cast another glance at Mo Shen, who was buried in Lu Zeyu's arms and weeping bitterly.
With an expression of utter disgust, he looked at Mo Shen, whose face was smeared with a messy mixture of tears and snot. "That's so damn ugly when you cry."
Young Master Mo was an extreme visual purist who rejected anything ugly!
Gu Jingge, following right behind Mo Yu, stealthily pulled out his phone and snapped a photo of Mo Shen with snot practically sliding into his mouth.
Shen Jichuan, having witnessed the entire spectacle, thought nothing of it and calmly looked away.
"Send me a copy later," Li Jinhai said.
Busier than anyone trying to coax and comfort him, Lu Zeyu failed to notice the commotion over here.
"Brother Zeyu, I'm begging you, please don't be angry with me, okay? I'm really so scared," Mo Shen whimpered, looking up into Lu Zeyu's green eyes with a voice thick with tears.
