Chapter 11

"I'm not entirely sure about that myself, but this young man is indeed a brilliant doctor. A uremia patient he treated with acupuncture recently showed immediate improvement and has already been discharged. I suggest you send someone to invite Chen Mo over to take a look."
President Nie had already learned Chen Mo's home address and workplace from Director Wang. He never expected a mere factory clinic doctor at the Rolling Mill to possess such medical prowess.
Director Yang felt a complex mix of emotions at that moment. Because of the Deaf Old Lady, he had previously managed to offend Chen Mo beyond all redemption.
Even Secretary Li had been turned away at the door the last time he went.
Regardless of all that, however, he had to survive. No matter what conditions Chen Mo demanded or how much money he wanted, he had to get his illness cured; otherwise, he wouldn't live much longer.
He had worked so hard to attain the position of director, only to have the fruits of his labor snatched away now—who could ever reconcile themselves to that?
"Darling, go to the Rolling Mill and find Secretary Li, then go find Chen Mo. Tell him that I agree to any conditions he sets. As long as he can cure my illness, I will agree to anything. Remember, you must be very polite."
"Alright, I'll go right now." Since there was hope of curing her husband's illness, she naturally wouldn't let the chance slip away.
President Nie, standing nearby, wore a rather peculiar expression. It seemed Director Yang and Chen Mo had some sort of conflict between them.
As a doctor, he knew all too well how foolish it was to offend a miraculous physician—especially one so young.
By now, it was already past eight o'clock in the evening.
Yi Zhonghai had arrived at the entrance of No. 12 Zhengyang Gate.
He knocked on the door a few times: *bang, bang, bang*.
With a creak, the door opened. A middle-aged man with somewhat shifty features and a receding hairline frowned when he saw Yi Zhonghai.
"Who are you?"
"Hello, are you Wang Gouzi?" Yi Zhonghai asked.
"Who are you?" Wang Gouzi's guard went up.
"I am Yi Zhonghai. The Deaf Old Lady sent me," Yi Zhonghai said.
Upon hearing the name Deaf Old Lady, and seeing that old coot Yi Zhonghai didn't look like a good person either, Wang Gouzi thought for a moment and said, "Come inside to talk."
He hadn't been in contact with the Deaf Old Lady for many years; he never expected that old hag to be reaching out to him again, which naturally made him wary.
"Spit it out, what is it?" Wang Gouzi asked.
"The Deaf Old Lady sent me to find you because Bangeng crippled someone," Yi Zhonghai said.
"Crippling someone costs three hundred. Two hundred as a deposit upfront, strictly non-refundable," Wang Gouzi said.
"That expensive?" Upon hearing that it would cost three hundred yuan just to cripple Chen Mo, Yi Zhonghai was extremely reluctant in his heart, while also harboring a deep resentment toward the Deaf Old Lady. He had thought he could just come straight to Wang Gouzi, not realizing it would cost money.
"If you don't have the money, get lost. You're not welcome here." Wang Gouzi's face darkened. *Damn it, you expect me to work without money? Are you fucking with me?*
"Uh... I left in a hurry today and forgot to bring the money. How about this, I'll bring it to you tomorrow, what do you think?" Yi Zhonghai quickly said.
"Fine, we'll talk tomorrow then. You can leave now," Wang Gouzi said impatiently.
Annoyance flared in Yi Zhonghai's heart, but he didn't dare show it. The moment he had stepped inside the house, he had felt an overwhelming sense of oppression.
Meanwhile, back at Chen Mo's house, He Yushui was sitting on Chen Mo's lap, the two of them affectionately snuggled together.
Looking at the exquisite little cutie right before him, Chen Mo felt a restless itch in his heart, but he had no choice and had to hold back. There was no helping it—this Courtyard was simply not safe. If they were going to do anything, they had to do it outside. At that moment, Chen Mo was practically dying to make He Yushui truly his right then and there.
He Yushui sensed the change in Chen Mo, and her pretty face instantly flushed red."Brother Chen Mo, I... let me help you."
"Alright." Chen Mo agreed without the slightest hesitation.
Ever since He Yushui had yielded for love last time, the two of them had often played like this.
"Hmph, you only know how to bully me." He Yushui was terribly shy.
"Hehe, then do you like being bullied by me?" Chen Mo pulled He Yushui closer into his arms.
"Mm." He Yushui nodded obediently.
"Let me help you this time." Chen Mo looked at He Yushui with a grin and said.
"No, Brother Chen Mo, it's too late now. If I go back too late, I'm afraid someone will notice." He Yushui said.
"Alright then." Chen Mo leaned close to He Yushui's ear and whispered, "On your birthday, let's not go back to the Courtyard. I'll pick you up at school and take you to a great place."
"Mm." He Yushui nodded shyly, her heart filled with anticipation. She had long since considered Brother Chen Mo to be her man, so naturally she would agree to whatever he wanted.
"Th... then I'll go back to sleep first." He Yushui said reluctantly.
"Mm." Chen Mo straightened He Yushui's somewhat disheveled hair, kissed her on the forehead, and then brought her outside.
He Yushui felt like she was the most thrilled girl in the entire world.
Returning to the middle courtyard, He Yushui saw Shazhu looking at her with a gloomy face.
"How many times have I told you, I won't allow you to associate with that bastard Chen Mo."
"You have no right to meddle in my business." He Yushui retorted.
"You damned girl, have your wings grown stiff, huh? Believe it or not, I'll slap you." Shazhu flew into a rage.
"Go ahead and slap me, you'd better beat me to death." He Yushui said stubbornly, "When have you ever cared about me, and by what right do you care about me now? In your eyes, your own biological sister isn't even worth a single hair of Qin Huiru's."
"You..." Shazhu choked. Could he admit to that? Even though it was the truth.
"Hmph, that brat is just a pretty boy, he doesn't look like anything good at all. There will come a time when you're crying your eyes out." Shazhu shouted angrily, then turned around and walked straight back into his room.
Early the next morning, Chen Mo got up very early. Recently, he had barely practiced cultivation, instead boosting his cultivation base entirely through merit points. To his surprise, 2,000 merit points had just been added.
After checking, he found out that they were earned from writing the prescription for that old man yesterday.
This proved that Chen Mo's guess was correct. That old man's identity was extraordinary, so the merit points gained after the treatment were also incomparable to what an ordinary person could yield.
Moreover, that prescription was only for the first course of treatment, and two more courses would be needed afterward. He wondered how many merit points he could get once he was completely cured.
Inside a separate courtyard located in a large compound near Taiye Lake, an old man sat at a stone table in the yard. If Chen Mo were here, he would instantly recognize this old man as the very same person he had met while fishing that day.
Beside him, another gray-haired old man was taking his pulse. After a long while, a brilliant smile appeared on the elder's face.
"It's nothing short of miraculous, Elder Shi. Exactly which grandmaster of medicine wrote this prescription? Those formula masters I know could never write such a flawless prescription. I never imagined medicine could be used this way."
The old man speaking was named Wang Xiushan, a dedicated traditional Chinese medicine specialist for Taiye Lake. In ancient times, he would have been the equivalent of an imperial physician.
Elder Shi was none other than the renowned General Shi, Shi Chuan. Ever since he came down from the northern battlefield, he had been recuperating his health right here.
